Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer. Explanation: To some, it may look like a beehive. In reality, the featured image from the Hubble Space Telescope captures a cosmic pillar of dust, over two-light years long, inside of which is Herbig-Haro 666 -- a young star emitting powerful jets. The structure lies within one of our galaxy's largest star forming regions, the Carina Nebula, shining in southern skies at a distance of about 7,500 light-years. The pillar's layered outline are shaped by the winds and radiation of Carina's young, hot, massive stars, some of which are still forming inside the nebula. A dust-penetrating view in infrared light better shows the two, narrow, energetic jets blasting outward from a still hidden infant star.

It looks like Maxine Waters, when he did not shave, giving us the finger.
bttt
Looks like a dog chasing a robot…..who is holding up a cheeseburger.
The universe is made of cheeseburgers.
OH CHEESEBURGER
(Sung to the tune of OH CHRISTMAS TREE)
Oh cheeseburger, oh cheeseburger
You are a burger made with cheese on it
Oh cheeseburger, oh cheeseburger
You can have Cheddar but I prefer American
At dinner time you’re good with fries
You are better than those pizza pies
Oh cheeseburger, oh cheeseburger
Hamburger, cheese and a bun is all you need
Though I relate much more to A Pirate Looks at Forty AARRGH.
OK, now that name flat-out gives me the creeps.
There is an accumulation of those things underneath the refrigerator here.
I imagine lead lined underwear are needed in the vicinity of all that star formation.
dang nice shot, impressive
Well, I am not going engage in pareidola and say the things it reminds me of. I do like the colors of the stars and the lights in the dust clouds! Thanks for posting!
(Forcast on the KS/MO border tomorrow is for 60-70 wind gusts with about 40 sustained winds. Probably some downslope winds from CO!)
Wow, this is one of your best images. I would never have pictured a beehive, which is too tame. This thing is SCARY! There really, really should have been a kitten to offset things in this one.
It looks like a Florida manatee.
