Pfizer says testing on its planned COVID-19 treatment pill has shown it is effective against the omicron variant while also maintaining its efficacy in reducing hospitalizations and deaths caused by other variants.
According to the Associated Press, a study conducted by Pfizer on 2,250 people showed the pill reduced combined hospitalizations and deaths by about 89% among high-risk adults who took the pill shortly after noticing COVID symptoms.
Testing conducted by separate labs showed the treatment remained effective against the omicron variant, despite the pill being developed before omicron was spreading around the world. The treatment was tested against a man-made version of a key protein that omicron uses to reproduce itself, according to Pfizer and the AP.
Although the treatment has not yet been approved, the Food and Drug Administration is expected to make a decision soon on whether or not the pill will be approved. If the FDA grants approval, it will become the first COVID-19 treatment that Americans would be able to pick up from a pharmacy.

First the AP reports that they fact checked their own report disproving voter fraud, and now Pfizer reports that they fact checked their own tests and cconfirmed their new COVID pills are both safe an effective.
OK. Guess that’s just about all the proof I need. 🙄
I have the impression that doing nothing at all is effective against the omicron variant.
RE: It’s called Iverpectin.
OR maybe Pfizermectin. 😅😆
RE: And who made ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine?
These two drugs are generic now after decades of successful use.
Numerous drug companies ( mostly in Asia ) make them today.
I think I would like to catch this one, if I am not already immune.
Big Pharma is making billions with the so called vaccines whose only proven effectiveness is making big money for them.
That is true but both Pfizer's pill and Ivermectin are protease inhibitors. They both fight Covid by employing the same physiological affect on viral replication.
Yes, but “Big Evil Pharma” is almost always the originator.
I’m not crazy about all this COVID hysteria, but I’m not big on going in for the commie handle of “companies evil”, either.
Correction: Only Big Pharma drug$ that are $till under patent are allowed.
Isn’t this Pfizer drug an expensive repackaged ivermectin?
