The search is underway for a woman who reportedly went overboard on a cruise ship off the coast of Ensenada, Mexico, about 80 miles south of San Diego.
Passengers on the Carnival Miracle were informed in the morning that the woman, who has not been publicly identified, fell from the balcony of her stateroom on the ship...
Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy are working together in an attempt to locate the woman...
The ship departed from the Long Beach area Thursday and is scheduled to return Sunday.

Have you gone on many cruises? Are they fun? Or is the boat filled with old people (like me)
I’ve been on the Miracle. My favorite Spirit class ship if not my favorite Carnival ship.
The balcony railings are 3.5’+ high. Way to high for ‘falling over’. She had to be sitting on it or jumped ...or was pushed.
International waters + cruising agreement means no increase in fare price.
I knew this guy....

I did that trip on the Pride in 2017 ...
Ive been on the Pride and the Legend
It was a 14 day trip for balcony base price about $475 p/p. December first week tended to be in low demand thus great deals. It was the closest Carnival ever gets to a geriatric passenger list. We usually have done Holland sailings but then pre-covid in 2019, Holland abandoned Tampa as a port.

We’ve been doing 3 or 4 a year. Past tense. Nada now. No face diapers for us, no vax. It helps having grandchildren 10 minutes away.
We’re just back from our first cruise ever. It was a Viking Ocean trip. We’re mid 60’s and passengers ranged from 30’s to 80’s. It was a very nice crowd of people.
No casinos on Viking trips and no one < 18 years. So, if you’re a 16 year old alcoholic compulsive gambler you might be more comfortable with Carnival.
We had a very good time. Far exceeded my expectations.
I don’t understand how this happens. I served aboard a Destroyer, and we went through some awful storms with no railings yet lost no one
Navy folks aren’t loopy like civilians.
I thought the vaxxes protected people against being eaten by sharks—no way they would want to touch that poison!
mine was a repo cruise Tampa to Baltimore
The story goes that the young drunk woman was trying to climb from one balcony to another and fell hitting her head before she fell into the ocean ...
You know, I just lost someone very very dear to me. Right now the idea of someone dying horribly does not amuse me. I think of her family, and how they grieve as I do right now. I’m sorry for them and I’m sorry for her.
You have my sincere condolences!
But perhaps the Free Republic message board isn't the appropriate place for you to "hang out at" right now.
You are still grieving, and are liable to encounter a lot of flippant and (unintentionally) hurtful remarks here.
Irreverence and sarcasm are "part and parcel" of the FR message board.
A pall-bearer can't leave the funeral of a loved one, and then remove his "mourning attire" and "black crape" and proceed directly to a hootenanny, and then feel slighted by the "lack of decorum" on display there. He can't rightfully expect anyone there to give him "special consideration."
Again: My condolences - but perhaps you should give yourself a little break from FP.
Regards,
Good move! And those are not cheap at $59/DAY of cruise.
It was either intoxication or foul play.
