We broke everything in the name of COVID

And what are all Biden's horses and all Biden's men going to do about the economy now?

I used to run a fairly large I.T. department. Every few years, we were required to power down the entire computer room while the factory underwent electrical maintenance. It was always a dicey operation to shut down systems that had been running for years. Such systems don’t like having their power cycled off and on. In spite of our best preparations, we never knew if the hundreds of computers, switches, and routers would simply turn back on. They rarely did, and we generally faced days of troubleshooting.

Our system of commerce is the engine upon which our economy depends, and it is far more complex than any computer room. It comprises suppliers, producers, logisticians, and customers all working in coordination, with precise timing. It is a complex ballet of:

Harvesting raw materials Crafting those materials into products Delivering products to waiting customers Who in turn provide other products and services to their customers And the ballet continues in perpetuity To assure that products arrive where they are needed, when they are needed, the engine of commerce includes the work of millions of companies and billions of people, working in compliance with millions of standards and regulations. In our global economy, everyone on Earth is part of the system. How’s that for complexity?

To be blunt, we were naive to think it could be cycled off and on at will. Yet when COVID arrived, we started tampering with the engine. Our all-knowing leaders ordered some businesses closed yet allowed others to remain open. They thought they understood which businesses were needed, but they didn’t.

Leaders ordered some workers to stay home yet allowed others to work — designating them essential.

pilot programs (small, organizationally more flexible, often with motivated and competent staff) create an illusion of expected success that does not often translate over to the bloated bureaucratic efforts they help spawn.

With the example of the former USSR to remind us, you'd think that their spending 80+ years behind the 8 ball would be enough to cure woke jerks of their incessant demand for this impossible and unworkable socialist experiment!!

Surrendering your country to decades of political, social hell, instability and near insurmountable economic death isn't a positive plan for any country!

“but for me the most disturbing aspect of this COVID fiasco was seeing how many simpering cowards right here on FR had no qualms about getting on here and scolding those of us who refused to shut down our lives and our businesses back in the spring of 2020 when this whole thing started“

Yes, it was disappointing, to say the least. Funny how we don’t hear much from those fools anymore, eh? But to be fair, many of my closest friends of over 25 years, people I thought to be rational and intelligent, have absolutely bought into this scam. Very sad.

“social distancing (stupid name that it is)“

I’ve referred to it as “socialist distancing” from the moment I first heard that stupid phrase. Another favorite of mine was #AloneTogether. How stupid and brainwashed and Orwellian do you have to be to even come up with that?

A compounding issue in this instance is how many government types — who produce nothing of value and are often counterproductive of consumed resources to begin with — want to tell people how to proceed after they e broken stuff to begin with.

The number of social problems expands according to the number of social workers.

yes, but that is the work here, to educate conservatives. Never give up and never give an inch.

But it is important to know what a conservative is To have solid ground to defend from. Too often conservatism is what ever we want it to be.

https://kirkcenter.org/conservatism/ten-conservative-principles/

Read it slowly, let your lips move until they guide you

Our founding fathers were guided by deep principles beyond these......................

Read those out loud too.

Your view seems apt.

In these last two “pandemic” years, the “data” offered us as “official” have enormous holes in them, from definitions (which change quickly) to data collection (which is biased by changing definitions) to various analyses (much of which seems intent to say what the data does not say).

I conclude that shutdown was always the goal, to lockdown dissent and control whole nations. After all.... "Official" Global Deaths through 23 months -- ( 5,105,270 / 7,906,949,863 ) x 100 = 0.0645 % From the vantage point of our travel on two continents and many states through which we have traveled in these last almost two years, the “pandemic” has seemed at the minimum a “case-demic” and media-driven fear porn, and at a maximum, fraudulent and a “planned-demic.” Evidence of fear was aeverywhere, but actual evidence of "bring out your dead" nowhere. Fear does strange things to people.

In my little church, many among our mostly elderly membership got the jab early on, and—thanks be to God—are doing fine. Yet, of those dear souls, only one is a Biden-loving liberal.
So, guess what her name is.

“Indeed. Might say the same thing for laws and politicians.”

The more wicked a people become, the more they can imagine the harm others might do to them, them more laws they demand to protect them from other ordinary folks.

We’ve reached an extreme where in some places the law now protects the criminals from their victims.

A righteous people does not need a great proliferation of laws.

Grab your android phone, press the center button to activate Google assistant.

Then ask it “play me a song”.

The system, post covid, came up fine. It’s just not the system we had pre covid.

I can at least take some measure of comfort that the FIRST economy engine to suffer total shutdown is gonna be California:

-Destroy your economy of agriculture by siphoning off water to LA lawns and pools or just plain starve them because of some endangered frog or newt.

-Destroy your fiscal security by massive giveaways to anybody illegal, homeless, anti-American or just plain corrupt.

-Destroy your commerce by massive econut regulation, fees, fines and taxes.

These were already going on and now with Covid:

-Shut down businesses cuz they want to remain open and pay taxes.

-Release jailed infecteds because?

-Fine businesses cuz they don’t force the Jab.

and so on

California had a chance to right some of this wrong - they chose instead to keep that fool as Governor.

I’m probably one of those people and would welcome discussion if i am in your list.

I was fooled about masks. I said “what’s the harm?”

Everything else was infuriating though. Never pushed people to comply by ruining their lives.

But yeah, i was a mask hound.

I never had a problem with people wearing masks. Never had a problem with business establishments imposing mask requirements, either.

But people who would use the power of government to force others to wear masks are Nazis.

It’s really that simple.

Some of the worst offenders were the “I’ve done 40 years in the military types.”

People act like that’s something to be proud of. I never considered that much of a resume-enhancer at all. In fact, I translate this as: “I’ve spent 40 years having government officials tell me what to do.” As if that means anything in a free nation.
