Sales of the canned cooked meat Spam have hit a record high for the seventh year in a row, despite pandemic-related challenges.
That helped Hormel, the company that makes the iconic brand, deliver record sales of $3.5bn (£2.65bn) in the three months to the end of October.
The firm's boss said it will start work on expanding its range of Spam products next year.
Hormel's shares rose by almost 6% in New York on Thursday.
"The Spam brand delivered its seventh consecutive year of record growth," Hormel's chief executive Jim Snee said on a conference call with investors.
"We are also beginning work on another expansion for the Spam family of products scheduled to be operational in 2023," he added.
Hormel, which completed its takeover of the Planters peanut brand in June, saw sales rise by 19% to $11.4bn for the year as a whole.
That came even as the company was faced with supply chain issues during the coronavirus pandemic.
To help limit the impact of supply issues in the future Hormel said it has signed a new five-year contract for supplies of pork, the main ingredient in Spam.

Now THAT is disgusting LOL
I think it’s the greatest food contribution the world has seen from a processed food product. It’s largely ridiculed by food snobs, but there are MILLIONS of people out there who have that one or two cans on their pantry shelves for that craving moment. I like it.
A. Spam tastes great.
B.Have you bought a can of corned beef lately?
Mmmmmm, Spam!
I knew this reference would be here, but the FIRST reply is pretty sweet!
I’m convinced there is a conspiracy to drive up meat prices to force people to move to meat substitutes.
yup, adjust recipe
The local Walmart can’t keep Bacon flavored Spam in stock
Baked beans are off!
Has it improved since the 60’s?
This sounds weird, but good. It’s a play on ham loaf. Ham Loaf is a big Amish thing around here.
I put a can of SPAM in the food processor with seasoning, veggies, seasoning, egg and bread crumbs. When mixed together, I mix in ground pork by hand and form a loaf.
In short, just replace ham in ham loaf w SPAM. By doing so, you can make a 1-2 pound meatloaf without buying ham and having to grind it. Beautiful on the smoker.
I burned out on Spam as a kid. It just tastes like bad ham, and since good ham is way cheaper there’s no real reason to eat Spam.
I wouldn’t sully myself with canned corned beef.
So many flavors! BBQ is good.
Just supply issues. We drove a bunch of meat producers out of business with the restaurant shut down and they haven’t been replaced yet. Takes years to build that stock.
Thanks!
Treet weeps.
I was hoping someone would mention spam musubi.
Someone from church brought my wife and me some a few months back, and I was hooked! Since then, I’ve made spam musubi a few times. My kids love it too. I can’t eat it too often or I get bored of it. But it’s a nice occasional snack.
And all the ingredients hold in a pantry!
“Today, Spam is so much a part of South Korean culture, “
Lived in Korea for two years. Never saw or ate spam.
Redneck Benedict
Toast an English muffin
top each side with a slice of fried Spam
top each slice of Spam with a slice of Velveeta
top each slice of Velveeta with an egg poached in 50/50
sweet white wine and water with some dried basil thrown
in.
You get crunchy from the toasted bread, salty from the spam, creamy from the Velveeta and sweet from the wine. Can be prepared in the kitchen of a mobile home.
