"Smollett testifying in his own defense is one of two things, or maybe both: a narcissistic criminal defendant who is doubling down on his charged lies to law enforcement or defense attorneys who know they are way behind and are throwing a low probability Hail Mary to try to get their client off," former U.S. attorney Neama Rahmani, who is not involved with Smollett's case, told Fox News Digital.
Rahmani added: "Either way, Smollett’s story was a bizarre attempt at forcing a square peg into a round hole by offering every possible explanation for the state’s digital evidence except the most obvious one: that he is guilty. In the unlikely event he is acquitted, Smollett’s decision was a genius move. But it is far more likely that the jury sees through his ruse and Smollett is convicted. If so, the judge may sentence him to prison time for obstructing justice and perjuring himself on the witness stand."
James White, a high-powered attorney in Michigan who is also not involved in the Smollett case, echoed Rahmani's comments that the actor’s testimony was nothing more than "an unparalleled disaster." White noted that he believes Smollett not only "hurt his case" but also "went beyond and made the prosecutor’s case" in the process.

“We are very broken.”
As a nation we lack a common definition of justice and equity. There is no common view of law in the judiciary, law enforcement, or the general population.
If “White Privilege” is real, why do white kids pretend to be black to get into a state funded institute of “higher learning”?
“would do anything for attention, and craved fame like a junkie...”
I am not a psychologist. Also, I did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
However, most “actors” and entertainers tend to be extrovert personality types. They all love attention. LOOK AT ME types. They thrive on attention from others.
I know several traders in my industry that fit that personality profile type. They typically make good salesmen/women.
“My brother was one. He would lie even when the truth would have been more help to him. He couldn’t help himself........................“
I have a brother like that. When he hand his wife were caught embezzling from a Church he came up with the most outlandish line of BS. In spite of convictions on several counts he denies to this day he did anything wrong.
I will have nothing to do with him any more. It’s dangerous to be around him. None of it made any sense until I read The 5 Basic Laws of Human Stupidity.
L
I wouldn’t be surprised if he is acquitted or convicted and given community service. There is one black on the jury who might hold out for not guilty. Being Chicago there are probably some liberal virtue-signaling white people on the jury as well. Half the jury are women, who probably feel sorry for him.
To us it seems an open and shut case and that he will be sent to prison, but the reality may be very different.
My brother ultimately died of an overdose of drugs at 50. The only thing that surprised me was that he lasted that long.
He spent his entire life in and out of jails and prison from about 13 until his death. He was dangerous to be around as his temperament was violent & unpredictable and could change in a microsecond....................
I submit the OJ Jury (criminal prosecution) as counterproof.
Smollett and Perjury
If it turns out, as seems likely, that Jussie Smollett staged a fake crime and then lied about it under oath, then his perjury should be treated as a matter at least as serious as the original hoax.
As we have seen everywhere from college campuses to the centers of power in Washington, our institutions and our public life can endure many things, but they cannot survive a culture in which outright fabrication is both common and accepted.
If I am reading the law correctly, perjury — a felony in Illinois — could get Smollett five years in prison and $25,000 in fines. The $25,000 would be nothing to Smollett, but he should do every day of five years if convicted.

I can see it now. Jersey Show Reunion - Epstein Island.....
Yes, it can be a positive character trait if channeled properly....................
Yes....all that he did points to those conclusions. Yet, I think there’s more at play here. He very likely has been the beneficiary of living totally in the leftist domain and surrounded by it.
Reinforced and actually encouraged by it. So much so to the point where his obvious limited brain actually thought that this ruse would actually work. In fact, it almost did. Remember that first DA that gave him the sweetheart deal and prosecution pass by blathering out some tripe about his past contributions, etc.?
He lost his big $100K/episode mega lifestyle meal ticket and he wanted it back; his tiny little brain thought this stuff was the way to get it back.
Mine is in his 60s. He lives in a run down trailer and had to get special dispensation from the judge to live there with his wife as normal convicted felons aren’t permitted to be together.
I don’t expect them to last much longer.
And I don’t care. I do feel bad for his kids, though. This has really damaged them.
L
I’m sorry. That’s tough on the whole family. May he find peace at last.
The attack was “fake but accurate”.
Conscientious?
Neither me nor my three sisters went to his funeral...................
“He would lie even when the truth would have been more help to him.”
That reminds me of the Clintons.
Aww nawww
Well said, sir! Excellent turn of phrase.
I think he just showed us how to break the mold.
Why just play the race card?
I mean, if you hold the Homosexual-Racist-Stupid card play that one!!!
That Trumps everything!! (pun obviously intended)
