FReepers - who has job under threat from vax mandates?
Me | 11/30/21 | Me

Thinking we should check in to see how things are going with the vax mandates for jobs.

Specifically, those who don’t want a jab.

Are you in conundrums from this? Possibly losing your job? Forcing you to come up with exemptions, or take testing that’s a big hassle, all so you can stay at work?

What’s happening? How might you deal with it?

Again, why is ‘because I don’t want it’ not good enough?

Luckily am able to work from home. Don’t think my work wants to force the jab on employees anyway unless forced to by law.

It’s the biggest, sorriest, CYA operation in the history of ever. Getting the “vaccine” protects the government and the employers more than the people taking it, IMHO. Do what the government tells you (and it ain’t even a LAW!) and you keep your job and what life you have left. Disobey and lose your job and maybe a lot more. A lot of people just don’t want that hassle if they know they get to keep their job and provide for their family. I understand why people cave if they otherwise don’t want it and it angers and saddens me that our government is offering people a Hobson’s Choice.

All for a virus that is ~99.8% survivable.

My older sister’s job (Behavioral health) has mandated it. She’s been there 25 yrs, she’s filed a religious exemption. Praying and hoping she gets it, apparently most of the religious exemptions are being accepted.

She’s been really stressed about it. Luckily she’s 60 in Feb and has over $100k in her 401k she can take out if they can her. Worst comes to worst she can work something from home and then take a reduced SS check in 2 yrs. So her and my bro-in law should be fine, he’s eligible for SS in a yr.

Asked about my status via a online form. I replied about my status, because I let myself be a test subject because I wanted to travel last summer.

Now if they ask again for receipts and say it could affect my employment I already have cause to let them know they are in breach of our employment agreement, the terms of the NDA and the employee handbook about medical discloser. Any updates to the employee handbook are cause for renegotiation of compensation. Year end discussions are awaiting next month, lets see how wacky it gets.

Have heard absolutely nothing about it since OSHA was told to go take a hike.

>>> Why not do the weekly testing? Just curious.

Because they cannot accurately diagnose it for one.

Oh.. and those 2 big letters on the PCR nasal swab packages that say “EO”?.... that stands for Ethylene Oxide... a known carcinogen that can cause cancer... and they are sticking it up near your brain.

Don’t let them do it!

>>> BTW I had COVID early on, minor symptoms, got over it, figure vax is useless on me.

NOT just useless... twice as deadly.

My exemption was accepted the day after it was requested.

There are shorter swabs. No need to stick it all the way up your nose.

I’m a federal employee. We all had to either upload our vax evidence or request an exemption (religious or medical). We are waiting to hear on the exemptions. Supervisors are just sitting on them. The “firing date” keeps getting moved back. So far only those who didn’t upload the vax proof or request an exemption—those who ignored the whole thing—are supposedly at risk of being fired. I think the federal employees unions might have something to say.

My job is ready to do weekly swabs versus forcing the jab. They have been in a holding pattern since the 5th Circuit ruling. Then plan is in place.
Getting a weekly swab is an appropriate compromise.
And it isn’t like they jab it up in there. It’s super gentle right towards the end of your nose. Not a big deal.

That’s not stupid; that’s plain evil. Hanlon’s razor in reverse.

Just got a memo saying the OSHA mandate is set for January 4. Either get the “jab” or pay out of pocket for weekly test. Had one of my doctors insist on the Pfizer because (as he claims) “fewer side effects”, which brought immediately to mind the “Brought to you by Pfizer” montage going around the intarwebs.

I believe in vaccination.

I believe in vaccination, too, but this is a pale imitation of vaccination, with an unusual and unacceptable level of risk attached. An injectable substance that doesn’t prevent infection and doesn’t stop transmission is not a vaccine.

I retired early from a 30-year career a few months ago because of the mandate. Now I’ve started consulting part-time, but had to apply for an exemption (it was approved) because I will be working on a contract with the FAA, and so the federal contractor mandate applied (and I’m working 100% remote from my home - what a joke). Anyone who can’t see that protecting health has absolutely zero to do with the government’s COVID response is just blind. When you’re forcing people to be “vaccinated” who will never be in the same building with any of their coworkers (or in my case, not even in the same state), the obvious objective is power and control, period.

Yeah. I wonder about that. Here in Australia the evidence that vaccination does greatly reduce the risk of infection, and does greatly reduce the risk of transmission seems very strong and unambiguous. No, it's not 100% effective - but nor are a lot of vaccines. Something doesn't have to be perfect to be worth doing.

I don't really know what's going on in the United States to make so many Americans think that vaccines aren't working as well as they do seem to be here and in a lot of other places. I don't know if that's reality - in which case, I think Americans need to be looking very carefully at what might be different in America - or if it's just perception.

In Australia, we're currently seeing among our highest infection rates - but that's at a time when our society is largely open up - they haven't gone dramatically up as we've opened up, they just haven't gone down a lot either. But our hospitalisation and death rates are much lower now than they were. And that isn't because people have acquired natural immunity through infection - only a very small proportion of Australians have ever been infected compared to most countries. Vaccination does seem to be the difference.

But at least 80% and probably more like 90% of Australians were going to get vaccinated without any mandates - so they seem pretty pointless. They will not change the numbers much at all.

The place where I work realized too many would quit. They are having a hard enough time trying to hire people.

They are putting people in concentration camps who aren’t even infected in Australia.

No, they’re not.

There are no concentration camps in Australia and using that term is an insult to the people who died in such camps.

It’s disgusting propaganda that seems to be designed to slander one of the most democratic countries on earth and one of America’s closest allies.

Frankly at this point, I’m wondering why the hell we bother to be allied with a country that’s being lied to and conditioned to hate us.

A few weeks ago we had the “Australia is under martial lies” circulating here. Then we had the “Australia Police are hunting down and forcibly vaccinating people” lie circulating. Then we had the videos where people had added the sound of automatic weapons fire to the videos to make it look police were shooting people down. We had the guy who robbed a liquor store and got his head cracked with a bottle being shared as somebody who had been killed by police.

Now we have the “concentration camp” lie.

It’s getting beyond a joke.
