Alec Baldwin took to Instagram to share a tweet he penned on his now-private account that declared his desire to see a police officer on sets to monitor weapon safety.
"Every film/TV set that uses guns, fake or otherwise, should have a police officer on set, hired by the production, to specifically monitor weapons safety,” he wrote Monday.
Baldwin has been at the heart of an ongoing debate in show business about the use of real firearms on sets after a live round discharged from a gun he was holding on the set of "Rust" last month resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

From the look on his face and his action, Alex needs some anger management classes. (sarc)
Because random Police officers are experts in gun safety.
Whatta doosh. Suddenly concerned for safety. It’s like Slick Willie toting that huge Bible under his arm.
None so redeemed as they.
How about we save a bunch and just have one officer follow Alec around.
How about learning gun safety and operating it in a responsible manner, like NOT pointing it at someone and pulling the trigger, like an idiot?
Take some responsibility for your own actions.
Interesting how the left who wants to defund the police demand them around when they think they need them.
The media has been doing this from day one. Calling a real gun a “prop” gun. Couching the narrative in terms that make it sound like Baldwin is the victim here. Beyond disgusting.
I was at a training range and we all saw a police officer nearly shoot themself in the foot.
Head of training facility told them to go home and get more range time.
"I'm the only one in this room, professional enough that I know of, to carry this Glock 40."
How about not hiring a MORON as an armorer instead?
So is Baldwin saying that Hollywood is just too dumb to grasp the fundamentals of safe practices involving firearms? I gotta say he might be right!
A bit like driving the wrong way on the interstate, killing someone, and concluding from that that a police officer be in every car driven on the interstate.
Combination of someone who couldn’t get past the first day of Logic 101 and someone who when deep in a hole can’t help but keeping digging.
You do have to give the guy in the video some credit on asking everyone else if they are OK and not starting a panic.
Found a way to spread blame to people that weren’t there. Kind of a stretch, Alec.
Or he could hire private securoty that is competent, like a competent armorer and effective rules.
Maybe the current system is okay, if it is followed.
Better yet, don’t let Hollywood liberals anywhere near dangerous objects.
Is he saying he needs a cop standing over his shoulder to remember not to point a loaded gun at someone and pull the trigger?
If that’s true, doesn’t that mean he is a danger to himself or others and should be denied bail when he is charged with manslaughter? Or civilly committed right now?
The above was, if not written by, approved by defense lawyer & PR Flack. They will do their well reimbursed best to FUD (Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt) everything for the probable trial.
Problems for them are numerous.
1) 'prop gun' - No such thing. It was a real gun used as a prop. Totally different!
2) 'somehow went off' - If Baldwin's finger was on trigger, NO!
3) 'discharged a live round' - WTF was a 'live round' doing anywhere on set? Baldwin, as Executive Producer has at least partial liability!
Case is not impossible for Baldwin to walk on criminal charges. "If the gun don't fit, you must acquit!" Sound familiar?
Baldwin is actually saying...
“If I only had police on the set monitoring gun safety I would have them to blame and I would not be in this situation I am today. Not my fault someone got killed. Don’t blame me! I just pulled the trigger. It was the damn guns fault! What’s the big deal anyways. Sh$t... it’s just some stupid broad. You think I’m all upset and crying that she’s dead?? LOL! No! It’s MY ass that’s in a twist and nobody to blame! Now can I get back to my movie!”
