Bob Nightengale, USA Today's MLB writer, penned a piece Wednesday titled "MLB, club won't budge on Atlanta baseball team's nickname, but here's why I won't use it" that began by listing the "blatantly racist" caricatures and the "offensive" mascot that were previously removed and how headdresses, face paint and the famous "tomahawk chop" chant at games became "strongly discouraged."

are the Astros maligning the Jetson’s dog?
The whole team name “controversy” has always struck me as utterly retarded. How is it insulting to name a team after braves or warriors or yes, even Redskins? Wouldn’t that be a tribute? A compliment?
I guess it’s all about “cultural appropriation” these days.
At this point, I’m just flat out embarrassed for the human species.
I’m sure they are equally upset by the Vikings.
Once again our news media making the news instead of reporting the news.
I’m sure they are equally upset by the Vikings.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan is on his own high-horse about this, too. This continues to happen every time that the Braves do something significant so that people might pay attention to what these ‘journalists’ write. Suddenly they stop being sportswriters and feel the need to be influencers.
Not that the behavior is actually that new in their industry.
Maybe like in old Fulton County Stadium, the Braves should be bring back the Tee Pee in left field, with Chief Knock-A-Homa inside drinking fire water and smoking peyote, who would come out and dance after each home run...
The Philadelphia Flyers are offending those who can’t afford to or may be on a no-fly list.
They could do like the former Redskins and become just the Atlanta team.
But, then, someone would complain about them using the name ‘Atlanta’.
Leftists have to have something to complain about. Doesn’t matter whether it is a city/street name, building name, statue, plaque, etc. The will find something to complain about.
That poor dog. The things Fauci did to him.
the famous "tomahawk chop" chant
Y'know, the one that Jane Fonda used to do when she was married to Ted Turner and he owned the ball club.
Detroit Pistons is next because of the offensive reference to burning gas.
Well, idiot, the reason that American Indian names are chosen is that they are considered a deadly and worthy foe. This is a long tradition and why we have had Navy ships named “Bon Homme Richard”. It’s why Army helicopters are named “Apache” and “Blackhawk.” Your opinion only exposes your abysmal ignorance.
The NY Jets are contributing to climate change
Let’s not forget about the contrails to rob us of our essence.
They should just change the teams name from “Braves” to “Cowards”.
There are many offensive names if they go down that road.
Boston Celtics is offensive to the actual Celtic people.
Minnesota Vikings offensive to those Scandinavian countries people.
Fighting Irish of Notre Dame would be offensive.
Dallas Cowboys is offensive to real cowboys.
Pittsburgh Steelers is offensive to real steel workers.
Green Bay Packers is offensive to real meat packers.
Milwaukee Brewers is offensive to real beer brewers.
New Orleans Saints, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Angels are all offensive to the Catholic church and Catholic people.
All the animal nicknames are offensive to those animals and to PETA types.
Is any sports nickname not offensive to someone in some way?
