Elon Musk cements his status as world's richest man, now worth $230 billion ... Tech magnate has been in dueling race with Amazon's Jeff Bezos

Tech kingpin Elon Musk continues to solidify his status as the world's richest man, with a personal fortune of $230 billion that dwarfs even that of his closest rival, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

The two magnates have seen dueling wealth totals in recent years, as Musk's various industrial endeavors — including electric car company Tesla and space exploration firm SpaceX — have borne fruit. Bezos, meanwhile, saw a massive jump in wealth over the course of the pandemic due to the public's high reliance on Amazon.

Musk made headlines last week when he tweeted a not-so-subtle "second place" trophy in what was an obvious taunting of Bezos.

The richest individual in modern history is estimated to be John D. Rockefeller, whose roughly $1 billion fortune in the early 20th century would be valued at well over $400 billion today.

As the article references Rockefeller, I highly recommend the series The Men Who Built America.

Yep, the welfare-queen never met a government handout he didn’t like.

Used to respect his accomplishments, now I view him as a self-centered leech sucking at the teat of American taxpayers.

I am highly amazed they were allowed to make that show.

Musk is marginally less loathsome that Bezos and certainlymuch less loathsome than Suckerberg!

Yes, Elon has mad taxpayer subsidies and he gets sweetheart space deals, BUT his space company performs and delivers. His Tesla needs cut from the taxpayer teets.

I think Elon could cut Tesla and still make space a trillion dollar seller.

Bezos will never get close again. Musk will be worth over $500 billion by this time next year.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean you don’t create a better life for everyone else while you are here.
