VANITY: Are We On The Verge of Serous Long-Term Grocery Shortages?

Posted on 10/17/2021 1:37:33 PM PDT by Jeff Chandler

Mrs. Chandler received a panicky email from her conspiracy-minded friend. Her friend said that Fox News told her we are going to experience devastating supermarket shortages lasting for two years.

I suspect that this could be Fox News creating fear to attract viewers.

I am now being pressured to purchase a crapload of non-perishables.

I doubt it. I think what may be going on is that people are eating at restaurants a lot less and therefore getting more of their food at grocery stores. It’s not like we’ve had any crop failures or anything. We still produce a LOT more food than we need. A lot of people are getting into raising chickens for eggs, even in urban and suburban environments here and there. and then there is gardening. Canning is big this year.

There are certainly no shortages where I live. I was concerned a few weeks ago when Costco had zero peanuts. But they are plenty stocked now.

I would invest in some non-perishables that would include ammunition of whatever you can get.

I do believe they intend to go full Soviet this winter. Likely between Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day. No food, no fuel and a full on pogrom for Trump supporters. They are going fore broke this time. No half measures, not like last time (0bama). They learned that once they get control, they have to maintain it no matter what it costs us (not them)

Only when we ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT’ again, will we survive this commie hold.

And mushrooms. Never have seen them run out of mushrooms before.

I know my zero turn mower is going to be due for shaft bearings soon so I ordered a hefty supply. And two of my cars either need or soon will need brake jobs, so I ordered pads and rotors for both of them. But there is really little we need up here on Galt’s Knob. My dad passed last year and left me with five more guns and about 7k rounds of ammo. Most of it will be used for familiarizing myself with all of them. I don’t know what I’m going to do with a couple hundred rounds of 12 gauge slugs but the semi-auto should go through them pretty quickly...

Probably not. But it doesn't hurt to prepare. But here is an article that says yes.

Here Are the Groceries You Might Be Missing On Store Shelves

The USA is still is the world's #1 food exporter. The likelihoodt hat we run out of food anytime soon is low.

100% right!
They have their claws into everything and it won’t be easy to get them off.
I think our biggest and maybe our last chance was President Trump!

I get the maximum amount of sardines from Costco every time they go on sale. I have a can for lunch pretty much every day - which is roughly a 60 day supply (more like 100 because I don’t have them “every” day). But they have a years long “best if used by” life. Peanut butter and canned chili too.

But don’t stock up on apples. 😜

“Shortage” would be a massive understatement.

The Great Reset will include roaming mobs of starving people.

All part of the plan.

Kinda like surviving a nuclear war. I think I’d rather be at ground zero when it happened.

I’m having a bumper crop of mushrooms in my grass and woods this year.

I have always maintained a supply of emergency food. I am concerned enough to have build a Harbor Freight 10 x 12 green house to grow food during the winter. If you can, recommend that you create a means of producing some food for yourself. Even if you only have a small patio, you can grow potatoes.

A vertical tower can fit in a room, add a grow light and you can have a supply for never ending greens.

If you have a sunny wall / side of your house or apartment, you can also have a small garden. Though you might need to put a plastic shell during the winter months.

Hey, you could wind up on some sort of tinfoil nut-job conspiracy ping list! (the “i’s” are back!)

It’s not like we’ve seen roaming mobs of people looting and burning cities.

We’re used to getting food or anything pretty much immediately. But it’s not going to be easy anymore.

Just wait the the ‘you know who’s) can’t get what they want immediately.

Get a run on food, everyone buys everything. Stores it improperly. Mice eat it and spread the virus pretty much any...

People die of starvation and lack of Netflix.

Today was the first day I've ever seen Walmart sold out of sour cream and that's a perishable.

Every Walmart near me has huge help wanted signs plastered everywhere. They're begging for employees.

I sometimes wonder, are they out of this item or do they not have someone available to re-stock it?

We are a rich country and can create shortages any time because we have that kind of buying power. And right now cash levels are very high, and company earnings (in most sectors) are way up too, which means despite shortages people are managing to spend a lot of dough on a lot of things.

We’ve seen some lack of goods at the grocery, but the missing items seem to change. One week it’s no yogurt, the next it’s lack of paper products. But no lasting shortages like last year.

Sardines are really good for you but the taste is too strong for me. My dad could demolish a tin.
