Derek Carr — “If we just started opening up everybody’s private emails and texts, people would start sweating a little bit. … Hopefully not too many. But maybe that’s what they should do for all coaches and GMs and owners from now on, is open up. You’ve got to open up everything. See what happens.”
VIDEO AT LINK..........................
I watched that movie. It’s very close to what’s going on right now. Another reason why I don’t participate on social media.
Fool. No one can pass such an anal exam.
If there was an electronic file of everything “wrong” that I said as a teenager, I could be fired 872,991 times over.
Yes, this. If we’re all for transparency, let everyone be transparent. Players, coaches, administrators, water boys. All of ‘em. Everybody. See how they like it.
Privacy is no more.
I’m not playing. Screw the lgbt, blacks, whites, asians, mexicans, women, ziperheads, ragheads, blm, antifa and what ever else offends anyone.
We have no idea about the context of the his emails. They could have been joking back and forth for all we know. This should fall into free speech.
Very bad idea. We all have things in our past for which we are ashamed. Words spoken or written which we assumed to be private are often in jest or exaggerated.
What happens when technology advances to the point where they read our thoughts? What if someone “claims” to be able to read our thoughts, but just makes things up to suit their objectives? How many of us have thoughts or say things that never ever manifests with concrete actions on our part?
The trend of cancelling based on conversation and unpublished writings in e-mails is a very, very dangerous. Let’s just use the tried and true method: make judgments about someone’s character based on the actions or deeds in life, adding in statements and language used when they KNOW they are in public.
Politicians, least of all, like to be judged based on what they have said, even if in a public setting, but especially if in private.
Of course, this is all wishful thinking. Everybody knows that there are no standards of decency or fairness anymore. . . .
Some day in the not too distant future:
“Alexa, This is Ace Reporter from CNN. Have any conservatives used a bad word in the last 24 hours?”
“There are 123 matches in the last 24 hours. how would you like me to sort them?”
If they want to shit-can every NFL coach who has said a homophobic slur, there will be almost no coaches left.
Another deep seeded belief of millenials is that privacy is evil.
I don’t know Derek Carr, but he may be trying to make the opposite point of what people are interpreting. He may be saying that most folks have skeletons in their closet — especially the holier-than-thou woke crowd and corporations who canceled Gruden — so why don’t they open up so we can take a look at their emails as well.
Again, don’t know what he’s actually thinking — and I could be WAY off base here — but that’s the impression I get.
I still have my FB account but unfriended everyone and made it totally public, with a message explaining why I’m not really “there” any more.
I just use it as a photo sharing app now.
I’ll bet many players have grimy emails and other social media material, plus criminal records, that they wouldn’t want publicized.
I was told way back in 1991 to only use company email for business and to keep it professional. All emails can will be reviewed. Anyone who doesn’t follow this rule is arrogant.
Isn’t FR a form of social media?
“there will be almost no coaches left.”
No worries, they will just fill those spots with ex-NFL black thugs because well they deserve it.
There are two ways to read this.
1) He is serious and a moron.
2) He is serious and realizes no one would pass scrutiny, and that is his point of brilliance.
Either way, I am all for it. I will happily own my indiscretions. How many of the holier than thou woke’ists would survive this level of colonoscopy?
And the NFLPA as well- let’s see the emails, old and new, from Demaurice Smith, George Attallah, etc...
yeah....let’s do it with the emails & texts of players too.
That is exactly what he is doing. Derek Carr is a Christian and is a lot like Tim Tebow......................
