The Bay Area woman charged with starting a California wildfire that destroyed more than 100 homes near Redding will undergo a psychiatric exam before returning to court, multiple media outlets reported.

Alexandra Souverneva, 30, of Palo Alto made a court appearance in Redding on Tuesday, and the court agreed with her lawyer's request to have his client meet with one to two psychiatrists to assess her mental stability before her next appearance in November, KTLA reported.

Souverneva faces a felony arson charge with an enhancement because the fire ignited during a state of emergency. She pleaded not guilty last month and said she accidentally started the Fawn Fire when she was boiling water from a puddle that contained bear urine to drink, Cal Fire law enforcement said in a narrative filed in court.

Souverneva is suspected of starting other fires in Shasta County and throughout the state, District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett said at a press conference last month.

The Fawn Fire ignited Sept. 22 in a remote canyon on property adjacent to the J.F. Shea and Mountain Gate quarries. The fire that torched 8,578 acres and destroyed 185 structures is 100% contained, Cal Fire said.

Cal Fire said Souverneva later walked out of the brush near the fire line, approached firefighters and told them she was dehydrated and needed medical help. Souverneva reportedly had an operable lighter in her pocket as well as CO2 cartridges and a "pink and white item containing a green leafy substance she admitted to smoking that day." She told Cal Fire law enforcement she was hiking and "attempting to get to Canada," the Cal Fire narrative reported.

How? She doesn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. That is the problem with people who write checks for more than they have.

She should pay but wish for that in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.

Like willfull children, these people make mayhem way outside their ability to make recompense. They need to be stopped before they can do that kind of thing before they get out of hand and do something terrible like this.
