During his opening statement in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday morning, General Mark Milley denied inappropriate phone calls with the Chinese military and tried to reassure Americans he is dedicated to civilian control of the military.
"I am specifically directed to communicate with the Chinese. These military to military communications at the highest level are critical to the security of the United States," Milley said. "My loyalty to this Nation, its people, and the Constitution hasn't changed, and will never change, as long as I have a breath to give. My loyalty is absolute, and I will not turn my back on the fallen."
"I firmly believe in civilian control of the military," he continued.

Earlier today, one of the most consequential stories in a long time broke with the revelation that Gen. Mark Milley, now the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had colluded with the Chinese to possibly commit treason. The discussion that led to the quote in question happened via secret, unsanctioned calls between Milley and a top Chinese general. At one point, Milley is reported to have pledged to the Chinese that he would tip them off about any possible attack coming from the United States.
Later, it was revealed that Milley was working with Nancy Pelosi, both of which were trying to subvert the constitutional system in order to essentially neuter Donald Trump’s ability to function as Commander in Chief.
Now, the clean-up crew has arrived to gaslight everyone and claim that was transpired not only didn’t amount to an intention to commit treason but was “routine.” Here’s Pentagon stenographer Jennifer Griffin relaying the message without a hint of skepticism.
I am told that Gen Milley had 2 routine calls with his Chinese counterpart and more than a dozen calls with NATO allies after Jan 6 to reassure them the US government was stable and to reassure China that the US did not plan a surprise attack, an effort to avoid misunderstanding.

As far as the facts on the ground go, Milley has two choices. He can either claim that the quote attributed to him by The Washington Post (which was quoting Bob Woodward’s new book) is false and that he never said it, or he cae country from a coup, but in the end, it was he that did more to execute a coup than anyone on January 6th.
None of this adds up to be routine, and it’s incredibly insulting that the Pentagon thinks they can brush this under the rug with such a whitewashing.
Good news, everyone.
The Pentagon is happy to inform us that it has investigated the Pentagon’s actions and found that the Pentagon did nothing wrong. https://t.co/XWTtFWCiSN

What Milley did in conjunction with Pelosi n admit he told a foreign adversary that he was willing to commit treason. There is no third option where Milley and the Pentagon get to pretend that all of this was routine because it absolutely was not.
Regardless of what “fears” Milley may have had following January 6th, we still have a constitution and a military that is controlled by civilian, elected leaders. There is no possible justification for a military general setting out to not only conduct his own foreign policy but to also offer aid and comfort to our enemies. That is, by the very definition of the word, treasonous.
Further, no one should be taking Milley’s claims of concern as a representation of reality. He is a deeply disturbed, delusional man who went so far as to compare January 6th, an event that resulted in no purposeful deaths except a police officer shooting Ashil Babbitt, to the Russian Revolution. Milley apparently saw himself as saving this the biggest breakdown of the constitutional order in modern history. We had a general essentially declare himself a military dictator, calling up foreign adversaries to let them know he had their back and would sell out his own country to give them information. And for what? There is no evidence Donald Trump was going to order an attack on China. Rather, Milley’s actions were driven by his delusional god complex.
But even if you assume Trump was going to do something dangerous (he wasn’t, but let’s assume), Milley’s obligation would be to refuse the order, resign, and notify Congress. It would not be for him to make secret calls to the Chinese to let them know he’s going to feed them information.
This is the kind of thing Republicans can not let go of. There have to be repercussions here or we cease to be a functioning nation. If that means a Republican-led DOJ taking action in 2025, so be it.
I think you’re convincing. I was trying to say something seriously close to that.
Nancy Pelosi may have over dosed on her successes this time.
Seems to me Milley, under oath, admitted to lying to the Chinese during a public hearing by:
1. Stating he didn’t believe that Trump was planning an attack,
2. Confirmed he told the Chinese he would let them know if one was imminent in order to de-escalate their reported impression that one was planned,
3. Then stated to Congress he would never warn of impending attack if he knew one was planned.
Thereby making any future substantive conversation with the Chinese unbelievable. If that is his job to schmooze the Chinese or Russians for that matter, then he just gave them and the world evidence that he is not to be trusted.
I think we may see Miller on Tucker, Hannity, or Ingraham soon. We need a detailed explanation of just what was said and who was called, as I think Milley had perjured himself.
That b*tch is in the center of everything bad coming out of the beltway.
You’ve got it exactly right. Without question, Pelosi committed treason.
Milley failed to act on that though. What happened to his duty to report Pelosi’s crime to his immediate superior?
Milley’s statement to Peelousy about not being qualified to make judgments about the President’s mental health is VERY INTERESTING!
Apparently not or he would have said so in this Committee meeting. At best that means he shirked his duty. At worst it means he approved of her actions and intent which makes him an accomplice.
Milley’s statement to Peelousy that he was not qualified to determine the President’s mental health is VERY INTERESTING!
Says a lot more about Peelousy than Milley!
I know of USAF maintenance officers who got Bronze Stars for Valor in Vietnam. They were stationed in Thailand. They would sign out a Huey and go stooge around the border between Laos and Vietnam until some commie took a potshot at them. They’d fire back with the M60 and then return and put themselves in for medals. And get them. Completely Bogus.
Milley was in Desert Storm. I’ll bet they were handing the medals out like candy bars. I’d be very surprised if they weren’t. After all. It was the only chance to get a medal since Granada. Who knows when it would happen again? There must have been hundreds of staff pukes screaming for a chance to ride a tank and “get into the action”. That CIB is worth a pile of gold to a REMF.
I do not believe this liar. He committed treason by communicating with the Chinese to undermine President Trump.
Oops!!
But, just might bear repeating.
It's just Kabuki theater. Even the Republicans are going along with it.
Petty inquiry. To be awarded a CIB or CAB one must actually be in contact with enemy, not just in theater.
Not everyone in a unit gets the award.
There is no doubt Jill will replace him before Biden gets asterisked.
Roger that.
That part raises questions that must be asked if there is any serious intent to investigate this.
"Where did the Chinese get the impression that "Trump" might attack them militarily?"
"Did someone in the U.S. government lead them to believe that and, if so, who?"
Traitor.
Sedition.
Milley.
True. Milley has nothing other then I been there awards for his pay grade. No purple heart or valor/gallantry in action award.
