BOSTON (CBS) — Sam Adams is adding even more “spirit” to its brew. The 12th edition of Samuel Adams Utopia has 28% alcohol by volume – so strong that it’s illegal in 15 states, including New Hampshire.
The beer is legal in Massachusetts, where bottles can be found at select specialty liquor stores at a suggested retail price of $240 starting on Oct. 11.

I might pay $20 or $30 to try it, but $240 is not worth it to me, even though it’s supposed to be available in my state.
Utopias beer batches aren’t shipped to Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont or West Virginia

I haven’t tried Sam Adams’ “Utopia” beer, but their pumpkin flavored “Jack O” should be outlawed for being called beer. No respecting German braumeister would make it.

Can’t get it here in MO but the shelves are full of every brand of whiskey known. Quite a few people here make their own moonshine and ‘share it with others’. Strongest thing I drink is brandy. Mostly cheap beer though. Just swapped from Busch Light to Natural Light to keep under $20 for a 30 pack which will last about a week.

I don't drink, but wouldn't it be cheaper to take a shot of whiksy then chase it with the sam adams beer? Exact same sensation. It's all the same akihol, after all.
Unless some brain dead liberTardians bought the company and added dope to it.

I was reading a history of a rural county near Jacksonville, FL. recently. I was surprised to read the high school star football player was killed running moonshine down from Georgia. He was broke and needed the money. This was all in the 1950’s but it seems not that long ago to me.

I think we tried to buy a six-pack of the first “Utopia” beer they made - the cashier said $199 - I heard $1.99. Naw - you can put that back...

You down six beers per hour? I'm trying to decide if this impresses me or worries me. That's a beer every 10min. I'd be pretty lit up even if it was >5% beer.

The best pumpkin beer I ever had wasn't a beer. It was a cider. Apple goes well with pumpkin. Malt products do not.
