The medicine ivermectin is being controversially used to treat or prevent COVID-19, which is causing some people to need medical attention.
Five Oregonians were recently hospitalized because they consumed a potent antiparasitic drug despite there being no clinical data supporting its use for COVID-19. The Oregon Poison Center strongly recommends the public only use scientifically proven and FDA-approved methods to combat the novel coronavirus.
The Oregon Poison Center has managed 25 cases involving Oregonians intentionally misusing ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 between Aug. 1 and Sept. 14. Five of those cases involved hospitalization, and two people were so severely ill that they had to be admitted to an intensive care unit. Although the Oregon Poison Center also serves Alaska and Guam, the vast majority of ivermectin cases it has managed this year have come from Oregon.
“COVID-19 is a devastating disease and can be very frightening, but the public does not need to use -- nor should it use -- unproven and potentially dangerous drugs to fight it,” said Robert Hendrickson, M.D., medical director of the Oregon Poison Center at Oregon Health & Science University and professor of emergency medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine.
“Health care providers can help COVID patients by prescribing treatments that are already carefully tested and approved,” Hendrickson said. “And vaccination, in combination with masking, physical distancing, frequent hand-washing and other measures, continues to be the best way to avoid getting infected.”
The Oregon Poison Center’s recent cases involved a variety of symptoms, including mental confusion, balance issues, low blood pressure and seizure. The patients were in their 20s through their 80s, although most were older than 60. The cases were fairly evenly split between both men and women, and between people attempting to either prevent or treat COVID-19. Some cases involved individuals obtaining a prescription for either human or veterinary forms of the drug.
Both the Food and Drug Administration and Merck, which makes ivermectin for human use, have announced there is no scientific data that supports its use for COVID-19. Neither the FDA nor the National Institutes of Health have endorsed its use for COVID-19, and OHSU doesn’t recommend any use of ivermectin for COVID-19. Initial lab research indicated ivermectin might be able to treat COVID-19, but when tested in human trials, ivermectin did not decrease symptoms or cure the disease.
Ivermectin is approved to treat some parasites in people and some animals.
Those who experience COVID-19 symptoms or are exposed to COVID-19 are encouraged to contact their primary care provider for assistance, and to only go to an emergency department if they are experiencing severe symptoms and need emergency medical assistance. Oregonians who don’t have a primary care provider or have COVID-19 questions can call the OHSU COVID-19 Connected Care Center hotline: 833-647-8222. Those who take ivermectin for COVID-19 and have symptoms or questions can also call the Oregon Poison Center: 800-222-1222.
If you or a loved one is experiencing a poison emergency, call the Oregon Poison Center at 800-222-1222. A trained health care provider is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The call is free and confidential. Poison prevention education and other poison safety resources are available at https://www.ohsu.edu/oregon-poison-center. Accredited by the American Association of Poison Control Centers, the Oregon Poison Center is a designated regional poison control center for Oregon, Alaska and Guam.

I would now say that a goodly percentage of "doctors" are dangerous quacks who have gotten The Saline and are encouraging the rubes to get The Clot Shot in order to preserve their source of income.
Don't you worry about them, though - their medicine cabinets are loaded with HCQ and Ivermectin...

I wonder how many adverse vaccine reactions have happened in Oregon during the same time period?
In December of 2020, at the very beginning of the availability of the vaccines the Oregon Health Authority reported that in the first 38,000 vaccinations at least one person was hospitalized with an adverse reaction.
As the public health authority for Wallowa County, Oregon Health Authority is reporting that a health care worker in the county has had a severe allergic reaction to the Moderna vaccine that required hospitalization. OHA is closely monitoring the case, which involves an employee at Wallowa Memorial Hospital who experienced anaphylaxis after receiving a first dose of the Moderna vaccine this week. The individual is recovering at a hospital.
It is likely that there have been many more since then.

My guess is this press release contains intentional disinformation. Checking my Physicians Desk Reference and the online Drugs.com data, I find NO REFERENCE to low blood pressure as a side effect.
This right here is a DEAD GIVEAWAY that this is propaganda: "COVID-19 is a devastating disease and can be very frightening..."
NO. It's NOT a "devastating disease", and the people lying to say that it is want a pretense for tyranny. SCUM. After this, I will AUTOMATICALLY distrust ANYONE in the medical profession.

This is a blatant LIE! Ivermectin won’t hurt you unless you eat the whole tube. Its marked by weight right on the tube. Even the pills I took are measured at 8 3mg pills for 300lbs.

Nonsense.
Ivermectin has been used for several decades and has been administered to over a billion people (in parasite-riddled areas of the world). It’s one of the safest drugs ever invented.
This is polprop.

with people choking down the nasty horse paste. In case you're not being ironic: the horse paste is rather pleasant. It's designed to be fed to horses, remember.
Smear your dose on an apple and you will never even notice it.

I have a bunch of really large gelatin caps... I suppose one could squirt them full and swallow them down.
Used to give the apple flavored stuff to horses when my sister was alive and had horses here on the farm...never even occurred to me to speculate about what it might be like to swallow some myself...
I have a bunch of injectable here so I could give myself a shot if it ever was called for... I have some 5cc syringes and 28 gauge needles...somewhere in this mess.

It was easy to get in Texas with a prescription at my local drug store. Now I have been told they stopped that and there is possibly one pharmacy in the DFW area that still has it. This makes me very angry.
This is NOT about Public Health. This is about something very sinister.

That reminds me, I saw that the other day and need to add that to my Ivermectin links block.
Useful Ivermectin links. More than you probably want to know about Ivermectin:

Emory University has a very prestigious medical school. The Dean of Emory Medical School has Indian heritage, and co-wrote an article in the Times of India advocating using Ivermectin against Covid, among other things. This has gotten =ZERO= coverage in US media, including his hometown paper, the AJC, and his hometown news network, CNN.
Try to convince me that isn’t newsworthy - both his original article and the non-coverage of it by US media.

There is more than enough clinical proof Ivermectin is safe and effective. The fact this ‘piece’ pretends no evidence exists marks it as yet another propaganda piece.

Some cases involved individuals obtaining a prescription for either human or veterinary forms of the drug. Not a word about why some individuals had problems with Ivermectin. Did they take too large a dose? Take it too often? Looks like they'd provide such information if they really wanted to inform the public with facts.
