A fourth coronavirus vaccine is making its way to the United States.
Health experts say the vaccine, Covavax, is the most effective to date showing protection against the original COVID-19 strain, but also against variants of concern. Covavax is the Indian brand name for Novavax, the American Company that developed the vaccine.
Researchers from 113 sites across the country assessed 29,000 infected patients. Results of the study showed it was 100% effective against the original SARs-CoV-2 and 93% against the alpha and delta strains, both of which are on the World Health Organization’s list of variants of concern.
But what’s so special about Covavax compared to Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson?
“What they are doing is producing a protein that is immunogenic, which seems to be a stable part of the coronavirus as the virus mutates,” Dr. Christopher Doehring, vice president of medical affairs at Franciscan Health, told News 8. “Their proprietary piece helps [the vaccine] to be delivered into the human body and allows the immune system to recognize it effectively and develop a robust response.”
Not only does Covavax offer high protection, Doehring says, but side effects are milder compared to other vaccines. Reported side effects include tenderness at the injection site, headache and slight fatigue. On average, symptoms lasted for three days.
The European Union has sealed a deal with the pharmaceutical company responsible for developing the vaccine, Novavax. They will be purchasing 200 million doses, which is a two-shot protocol, of the vaccine.
Novavax is expected to apply for emergency use authorization in the U.S. by the end of the year.
Yes. And, FRoctors.
RE: This is a virus with a 99.7%-plus survival rate.
Well, you can take thr chance that you’re healthy enough and young enough to be among the 99.7%.
The old and sickly MIGHT also survive but there’s a higher chance they could fall in the 0.3%.
Life is always about determining risks vs. benefits.
I would be willing to take an untested shot even though my doctor says I don’t need it.
That sounds reasonable.
Too late. Plan your funeral.
RE: Is this the one that’s supposed to be the better vax to get?
Read posts 10, 11 and 14 of this thread.
Waiting for the Ronavax /s
Well obviously that goes without saying.
Still haven’t seen body-bagged corpses being loaded onto flat bed trucks in the streets. It’s not deadly and certainly not a pandemic.
Exactly. And there is no benefit, for young or old, in shutting down entire societies out of manufactured fear for a virus with a 99.7%-plus survival rate.
I got my second shot of Pfizer only so I can travel.
How many did it kill?
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a hypervariable region, and Novavax does show some promise as a better product.
RE: How many did it kill?
None reported so far, but then, none were reported for the other 3 before they received EUA from the FDA.
Novavax was tested with some aborted cell lines, but is not produced with fetal cell products.

The Novavax (& the India authorized/licensed copy vaccine) is a “subunit protein vaccine” that contains the COVID-19 spike protein....see:

Nice sentiment, but the virus will likely find a way around this one, too.
Coronavirus PING!
I was born in the morning.
It was not however, this morning.
The Plandemic will be over when it has no more to give.
It still has the frickin’ spike protein, which is what is causing all the problems.
Novavax is a real vax and the real deal.
I’ll take it if I can find it.
THIS one will be the one that works. We promise.
It’s the same tech as the Rubella vax of MMR fame.
And every child in America has had it.
