AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin restaurants Launderette and Fresa’s will no longer require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for indoor dining after being contacted by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Earlier this week, the two restaurants announced intentions to require vaccination proof at its restaurants but backtracked after communication with TABC.
TABC says managers at the Austin restaurants “weren’t aware of the full requirements of the law and immediately took steps to comply.” Launderette confirmed on its Instagram page vaccinations are not required, but guests are required to “wear masks indoors when not seated at a table.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 968 in June, which prohibits Texas businesses or government entities from requiring COVID-19 vaccine passports or any vaccine information from customers.
TABC posted an announcement Thursday, reminding businesses of the legislation. Businesses not in compliance could risk having liquor licenses or permits revoked.
“While the agency has not taken formal action against any businesses to date, we have requested to meet with representatives of businesses where potential noncompliance could be taking place. Our goal is to educate and inform, rather than penalize, these businesses,” TABC said in a statement to KXAN.
I hope they both soon go out of business.

Do masks cease to work at tables, or does the virus cease to be infectious?
It being Austin, the patrons will probably comply with the “papers please” request voluntarily to show their support for the restaurants. Just keepin’ Austin weird.
C’mon....everyone knows Covid has Epiplaphobia!

The virus is deadly, but polite. It would never think of interrupting your dinner. That would be rude.
When you are seated you are below the flight path of the Rona.
So here we go... walk into restaurant masked, go to table masked, be seated and take off mask. After meal, put mask back on, walk out. Once outside, take off mask. Got it.
“Only the sick governing elites can look you in the eye with a straight face and force experimental injections on you because masks didn’t work while simultaneously forcing masks on you because the injections didn’t
work.’’

If you can breath unfiltered air, you can get a anything. Besides washing hands, clean eyes, nose and mouth asap. Might help a little.
If anything this government should have put money out the masks that really work, (you know the kind) made in America by family owned businesses and banned any from other countries.
In past wars, Americans gave their all to manufacture what was needed.
It’s all one big joke now. R.I.P. America/world.
God Bless Texas!
States rights are our only hold out against tyranny these days.
Thanks God for Texas where some people can still find their balls and their marbles.
Where I live in Georgia, the last two restaurants I went to neither customers or staff were wearing masks and that’s fine by me. As for the schools its the parents decision whether they want their child to wear a mask as it should be. My kid is not wearing a mask.
They ought to just go biz to biz and shut them down. Word will spread REAL FAST and compliance will happen.
That kind is rare in Anustin!
and getting even more rare by the day with the californiastans moving in.
See? Leftists can be cowed into obeying conservative dictates, although this fact will upset FR’s gang of brainwashed defeatists.

heck, everyone knows that the virus can’t escape from your mouth or nose while you’re eating or drinking, whereas at all other times the virus can indeed escape ... because “science” ...
TABC was enforcing the order set by Babbitt.
I guess since they are in charge of licensing and compliance, it was up to that agency to deal with a restaurant that was in non compliance with Abbott’s mandate.
Ping!
LOL....and, the replies are great :)
