My Grandpa would bring tacos from a Mexican restaurant when he came to visit. They were fabulous.
He eventually stopped bringing them and we got up the nerve to ask why. He said “The Board of Health closed them down for serving cat meat.” For years we called cats walking tacos!
Visiting my grandparents in the Ozarks, some of the unusual meats we tried were squirrel (usually fried for breakfast with eggs), rabbit, raccoon, goat, snapping turtle, frog legs.
Never had horsemeat, possum, or groundhog, that I know of. But we did have a BBQ platter for two that contained a selection of meat at a place in Kusadasi Turkey, which was delicious but a complete mystery.
Also, had kangaroo stew in Australia.

Here I was, expecting a paragraph, or something talking about the list, then...I realized the whole point to drive it home would be absolutely nothing. Those people at the Babylon Bee are brilliant...:)

Have had snapping turtle, deer, squirrel, rabbit, elk, bison and beaver. Cousin trapped a bunch and served at his wedding. Thought it was BBQ beef.
When I worked in a packing plant, we bought a bunch of beef from Australia. There was a scandal about it being kangaroo.
I’m aware. I was using those countries as a joke.
Someone gave my cousin’s wife a huge rattlesnake they had killed a couple of years ago.
She, being quite a woman, tanned the skin and fried the snake up for dinner served with homegrown vegetables.
She posted a photo on facebook, it looked wonderful.
I think people will be surprised at what can be eaten when you don’t have a choice. It’s good to be open to alternate sources of protein.
