A woman who says she began her career as an intensive care unit nurse months after the COVID-19 pandemic began is speaking out about the toll of learning the job while being inundated with severely sick patients as hospital beds now fill up again....
Kathryn Ivey, who reportedly works in a Nashville, Tenn., hospital, posted a powerful Twitter thread this week describing how her feelings of helplessness in earlier stages of the pandemic have transitioned to anger...
... Ivey’s reflections offer a glimpse into the grief being shouldered by health care workers on the front lines....
“Walking through the much smaller covid unit was like walking through a graveyard,” Ivey wrote.
But now, “it is so much worse, this time,” Ivey continued. “We all have so much less to give. We are still bearing the fresh and heavy grief of the last year and trying to find somewhere to put all this anger. But the patients don’t stop coming. And the anger doesn’t stop coming.”
Ivey described feeling defeated at the same time, like “Nothing we do makes a difference.”

Then there’s the nurse who posted pics in her scrubs telling the horrors of covid.. no ICU beds available, people dying and she was having a hard time coping. She was a Vet Tech.
It didn’t have to be like this... If there was no TV, MSM or Social Media there would be no problem.
Neither. The vaccine is an individual decision. I am against vaccinating those under 18 for now. If kids start to get really ill from this I would relook at it but right. is there is no reason to. Men 18 to 30 need to carefully weigh their risks and benefits with the small but real incidence of myocarditis. Everyone else needs to also look at their risk/benefit but the older you are with additional risk factors the more the vaccine makes sense.
I am for early treatment with monoclonal antibody therapy for those at risk. It can now be used prophylactically in some situations; the earlier the better. Steroids (decadron) should also be started early. Hospitalization
and ICU care for those that need it with escalating treaments including remdesivir and tociluzimab. More treatments are being
developed so more to come.
HCQ andivermectin? I don’t recommend them as no clear evidence they help. They don’t hurt either unless taking them causes someone to delay care, which could be a problem. Could they offer some benefit? - I think that will be teased out over time with large scale studies but they are not a magic bullet or a cure.
The US now has a de facto NHS.
Let’s hear it for socialized medicine.
Clap for carers!
Convenient story to offset all the other stories about how bad/useless the jabs are - they missed their chance when they first refused to treat patients until they were on death’s door.
You have hit on several of the many reasons I won’t get the shot.
The shot itself:
It is experimental.
It is not FDA approved.
We have no reliable data/studies about the efficacy or longevity.
Information about side effects and deaths are being censored
Companies producing the shot have a waiver from liability.
People are not give full disclosure of the risks.
People have been duped in thinking it will prevent covid or severe disease -
and symptoms - goalposts keep moving - but those I know who got it believe they will not get covid.
The money behind the shots/tests comes from people like Gates, a depopulationist.
The people pushing the shots:
I do not trust - the CDC, Fauci, the Biden administration, and others - are inept, corrupt, and politically driven
They do not care about me, many in our government would no doubt love to see a conservative like me bite the dust, so why the push?
The agenda of control through fear and ridicule is ramping up, like before the election last year.
The propaganda is pushing emotion and ridicule, not facts or data
The vaccine passports and the like are the perfect vehicle for totalitarians to control the populace without firing a shot
The disparagement of those against the shot is suspect, follows the same pattern and is by the same people that disparage those revealing election fraud
They tout the vaccine as THE answer. Not only is there an absence of research, development or promotion of existing treatments, any potential treatment is censored and disparaged.
Known risk factors for severity of disease are never mentioned - they have had over a year to promote a health campaign against obesity, type 2 diabetes, healthy choices, supplements, but instead they put fat people on the cover of fashion and health magazines.
If covid is SO bad, why are the borders open and illegal shipped all over the country?
The higher vaxxed populations are not showing less cases nor less severity, in many places it’s the opposite. Lockdowns and masks are still being pushed, so what was the point again?
Suddenly, “my body, my choice” is not a think anymore.
——
I’m sure I could think of more, but I will take my risks with the disease. I have supplements and therapeutics. I would seek out monoclonal antibodies but not sure I would be able to get them. Other than that, I will take my chances.
I would rather die than let them control me.
Fair enough, sounds like a well balanced response. Now I am talking from strictly a treatment side, that's something that people don't hear about enough. They were told the Poke was the cure all needed to "get life back to normal". Nothing else works to the point that any talk of anything else is literally censored. Then there are the nonsensical PPE protocols the "experts" insist everyone follow. In my opinion, they are going to get people killed when, not if, something truly deadly rolls around. This is followed by story after story of people needlessly being put on ventilators when other breathing treaments are available. I'm not talking about anecdotal FR posts. I'm talking about reports from people I know personally and trust as professionals saying they have seen it first hand. I'm sorry, ventilators kill and are a last, last resort type of thing to me. That's something I've believed since long before this whole thing. All the COOF response did was fortify my belief. Now, people have been told that the un-Poked are the reason for mutations by the "experts". Not saying mutations won't happen in an vaccinated population. I'm saying that this narrative is misleading and meant to vilify the un-Poked and coerce them in to going against their morals.
From the beginning little about this has been about public safety. It's been about politics and control. If you are as credentialed as you say (I am taking you at your word), then I applaud you for trying to educate people on a something that is complex and cryptic to most, even in the best of times. I have to add, though, as a layman with quite a bit more exposure to the practicing side of medicine than most, the way you and others that say they are credentialed go about it, it comes off as a defense of the party line; whether it is meant to be or not.
Take that for what it's worth. If you, and others could address the politics masquerading as medicine, as well as the actual medicine side of things, I think your messaging would be much more well received.
Have a great weekend.
Lies
I have addressed some of the politics. I am against mask mandates lockdown and forced vaccination. Speaking out about the wilder conspiracy theories and downright wrong information is not defending the party line. In the same vein there could be actual discussion if those against the vaccine would disavow some of the over the top crazy stuff out there, admit that covid exists, and talk about real issues. Meanwhile those of us on the frontline will continue to take the best care of our patients we can. Have a good weekend as well.
Yeh hospitalizations go up when the doctor diagnoses you with covid and sends you home without scripts for HCQ and a Zpak. 😣
She just finished her preceptorship last week...so NEW. Her CCU is currently at capacity with half COVID patients. Yes, they’ve lost some. She says a lot of nurses left to travel and make more money so doors opened. Believe it or not, she DID just get a raise...screenshotted the notification and sent it to me she was so happy.
As a Registered Nurse myself, due diligence requires that I do a license verification search for Kathryn Ivey both with NURSYS(multi-state listing) and Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Both returned same response: No result listed
So I call bullshit on this Twatter.
Stop posting misinformation.

Good for her, and I wish her the best. :-)
‘the study that you’re referring to.”
Here’s a little chart that sums up metadata results on 61 studies. Ivermecitin 80% range for preventative, in the 60-70% range for early treatment; down to forget it for late treatment with less than 50/50 odds.
That’s why I’m saying ivermectin needs a number. And a specific dose (since trials doses are all over the place)
It also needs a strong warning that people need pharm invermectin ONLY and not the horse paste that has binding ingredients that mess up the human liver and land people in worse trouble
‘Chat’ is the test ground for FR. So is the category (non-news) ‘medicine/health’ where a lot of questionable articles are tossed in the air for discussion and reaction. The article itself is an air toss - the author acknowledges it is based on a diary.
This is a story about struggling to adjust. Less about patients and more about the human condition. Whether it's a composite or not; I think most here ‘got’ the underlying and relatable theme.
I appreciate your efforts to verify the name. If your registry search turned up nil, and if you believe the twitter name is a legal name, call the Globe reporter and let us know what you find out. Thanks for being an RN.
If the doctors were actually treating patients with well known inexpensive drugs from the beginning, these nurses would really know what it doesn’t have to be this way really means.
Think about how many died, and are still dying, because the vaccine company CDC proclaimed nothing else works in order to get the go ahead on their frankenstein fake vaxes?
It is criminal and that should be what angers people. Lies and greed have caused this.
Those numbers for Ivermectin are excellent! As for the late treatment...when the patient is so neglected that they are on breathing machines, its too late for any treatment. My point and the Ivermectin study data and field data stand firm. The question remains: Why in Gods holy name isnt Ivermectin made openly available for ALL????
Since obama the medical indusrial complex has become more about a profit making business with little more compassion than a Walmart or McDonald’s.
Not that compassionate nurses and doctors don’t exist..but making easy bucks via gmint.

Not that compassionate nurses and doctors don’t exist..but making easy bucks via gmint is to great a temptation.
It’s a shame when Freepers post propaganda. There are a plethora of tweets and “news” stories like this circulating lately. They are designed to encourage people to draw certain conclusions. You fell for it and are now embarrassed, as you should be.
No thanks are necessary from you for my chosen calling. It has been very rewarding and I have been well compensated (most of the time).
My local hospital has a big golden sign “ Heroes work here” Right after they put it up they removed merit raises and cut shift differentials. I see your “thanks for being an RN” in the same light.
Only my husband calls me sweetie.
