Warner Bros. Pictures 9.95M subscribers IT’S TIME. #DuneMovie coming October 22.
I learned my lesson with “Fellowship of the Ring”. I’ll stick with the book. There’s no Hollywood script-writing that will ever make a good adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book, and there are absolutely no Hollywood special effects or casting that could possibly match what my 12 year old imagination came up with when I first read “Dune”.
Can’t wait to miss this one!!
“the creature “ was a
Guild Navigator, a human that had been totally subsumed by Spice and therefore capable of ‘folding Space’ with his mind.
But the Guild never threatened the Emperor like they did in the 1984 movie, although they did ‘strand’ the Emperor and all his Saudakar forces on a alien planet once in one of the prequels when he pissed them off. Space travel was not possible without The Guild and the Spice until Ixian technology developed a Machine that could do so, thus breaking The Guild’s monopoly.................
The Spice must flow...
My flyrod is called the Bluegill Slayer
My fly rod is called The Fish Aren’t Too Worried.
That phrase was not in any of the books that I recall. Just the 2000 miniseries........
Three points:
1. Count Fenring (the eunuch) spared Paul to save the Emperor’s life. He was the Emperor’s friend and realized that if he killed Paul that the Fremen would slaughter the Emperor and everyone else but if he spared Paul, Paul would spare the Emperor’s life.
2. Paul was the Kwisatz Haderach, which was important on a personal level to both himself and his wife. Count Fenring was a failed Kwisatz Haderach and felt empathy, curiosity, and was in awe of Paul, a true Kwisatz Haderach. Fenring’s wife was a Bene Gesserit and he loved her. Seeing the end result of her order’s centuries-long efforts was important to her and, although she had had a child with Feyd that might become a Kwisatz Haderach, it was not a sure thing, while Paul was.
3. Paul had defeated the Emperor’s army and Feyd Rautha (the last of the Harkonnens). Ordering him to kill Paul was not honorable (and a dick move). Fenring was having no part of this crap and called the Emperor on this.
British SF and Fantasy loves boils.
I’ll wait for it to show up in the bargain bin of DVDs at Walmart. Same for Asimov’s “Foundation”.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the latest try.
Sting was even better in Baron Munchausen...
Oh, I took a peek at it and said NO. I don’t need to see the lost generation’s Global warming movie nightmare.
You must have seen the wrong thing - this is what I was referring to: https://youtu.be/KJZ5wvlzt3o
Very motivational, eh?
I lost myself in all that. I have no idea what I responded to. Story of my life.
There's way more than six. There are several prequels. Frank Herbert croaked and his son took over writing them from his daddy's notes.
I highly recommend them. They are WAY better than the Dune sequels.
