With great sadness and heavy hearts, the Levin Family and Levin Center at Wayne Law announce the passing of Senator Carl Levin – a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and life-long public servant.https://t.co/7E8PiA1q7R pic.twitter.com/wNqINaolt4

Oh no,what will the ladies do now!?
Wait, I thought you said ‘Schwartz’ is dead.
(One had an enormous schvanz, one was an enormous schvanz....
“”I think the governor would have to name his replacement””
He had already retired - that’s why I said we dodged having his widow run for the seat. Or we’d have another one on our hands like the one from MI in the House. Dingell?? I guess some widows have run to get their Republican husband’s seats but the only one that comes to mind is Sonny Bono’s wife - but perhaps she ran on her own anyway. I know the “seats” don’t belong to the politicians but~~~~~~
There is a quote about a politican buried with much ceremony and a man who weeps because the politician was not hung. I’ve been searching the Web for it without any luck.
Gov. Phil Scott retired ?
Unfortunately, as long as that soulless, evil, totalitarian bitch is Governor of Michigan, if either of the two cretins drop dead as Senator, she’ll pick another Stalinazi to succeed them. The junior Senator stole the seat from Republican John James, anyhow.
The VT RINO Governor said if Leahy croaks, he’ll appoint a Demonrat to the vacancy. Must not upset the balance of evil.
Epitaph on the Politician
HILAIRE BELLOC
Here richly, with ridiculous display,
The Politician’s corpse was laid away.
While all of his acquaintance sneered and slanged
I wept: for I had longed to see him hanged.
I’ll add him to my list of favorite Democrats.
I’ll gloat when a really egregious a$$hole drops dead, like Ted Kennedy, Helen Thomas or Hilary. But he was just your average liberal Democrat, probably remembers when his colleagues were still sane. No nastiness.
Say only good of the dead.
Carl Levin is dead…
Good.
What an idiot
Carl Levin....
I was talking about if Patrick Leahy dropped dead
The tread was about Carl Levin - I don’t know how Leahy got in on the act..I think it was from your first post..
Kind of like - “Who’s on first?”
I firsat said it would great if a current dem senator would drop dead and I suggested a Leahy as a possible
Mo but he’ll be VOTING again:-)
The ‘President’ of the Senate is Karmela. As distasteful as it is to pray for her health I expect her to be a disaster as head of the rat party, if Biden goes we are winning in 2024, period.
Despite Leahy being half a corpse already and Bernie not being far behind, VT is out cause the Governor is a bastard. MA is out cause there would be a quickie special (and the Governor is a bastard). MD is out cause state law requires the same party (and the Governor is too much of a bastard to have conservative “registered democrats” on standby like I would).
Montana requires the same party, the Governor is NOT a bastard so maybe he would try to get around it OR leave the seat empty (Jon Tester). Arizona requires the same party, I think Ducey is too much of a Pucey. West Virginia requires the same party.
That leaves
GA: Jon Ossoff, Raphael Warnock
NH: Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan
OH: Sherrod Brown
That’s it. Brown or Ossoff (stolen race) would be the most useful, their seats not being up this year, not to mention revenge for Bob Taft (1953) and Paul Coverdell (2000). But you know, God forbid.
If I were the governor of one of those sttates that unconstitutionally limit the authority of the governor to appoint a temporary senator, I would tell the Democrats to KMA, appoint a conservative Republican. The Democrats would take me to court, but while I defend the Constitution against the legislative attack from a state legislature (which I think that I’d win), I’d send my appointee to DC, where the 50R-49D Senate can decide whether to accept his credentials. If Murkowski joins the Democrats in blocking him, then the Senate can stay 50R-49D, with McConnell as Majority Leader, until the next election.
