Was the gymnastics team “woke?”
I saw a video clip from Biles where she seemed tired with the non-stop training, the constant injuries, and admitted her body was older than when she first achieved greatness. Its completely understandable, but it revealed doubts that you can’t have when you are competing at such a high level.
Anyone notice that woke is mostly a function of women and more specifically white woman?
I agree. I’ve watched many Olympics over the decades and was always excited to see them. Not any more. I haven’t watched a minute of it, and I don’t care. The Olympics should go away. It’s pathetic now.

As a former competitive gymnast, I cringe when I see the makeup, jewelry, hair styles and sparkly leotards.
This isn’t the Ice Capades and they look outright gaudy Vegas girls, not like world class athletes.
If US olympians are not honored and appreciative of the country they represent they should not go, play for another country, or lose so everyone doesn’t have to see their virtue signaling….

Excellent observation. I had not thought of that. They also try to make the gymnasts look like little girls. It’s kind of creepy. Perhaps this is more evidence of the sexualization of young girls and children in general.

I never got the impression that Simone was especially “woke”. She’s a homeschooler and has come across as quite patriotic on occasion.
