Thousands of protesters gathered in central London on Saturday to protest government COVID-19 mandates.
The London demonstration, part of a global movement against severe coronavirus restrictions known as the Worldwide Rally For Freedom, saw a large crowd forming the city's Trafalgar Square to protest mask mandates, business restrictions, and vaccine passports, among other government restrictions.
Among the attendees were conspiracy theorist David Icke, media personality Katie Hopkins, and Piers Corbyn, whose brother is former Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Speakers rallied the crowd with comparisons to the Holocaust, arguing the government's restrictions were overly invasive.
"Get their names [of doctors and nurses]. Email them to me. With a group of lawyers, we are collecting all that. At the Nuremberg trials, the doctors and nurses stood trial, and they hung. If you are a doctor or a nurse, now is the time to get off that bus... and stand with us, the people," Kate Shemirani, a former nurse who was removed from the Nursing and Midwifery Council in June 2021 for allegedly spreading misinformation about COVID-19, said at Saturday's rally, referencing the military tribunals for prominent leaders in Nazi Germany known as the Nuremberg trials.
Many critics have invoked the Holocaust, in which millions of people were killed, to condemn COVID-19 lockdowns. In the United States, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene referenced the Holocaust when criticizing Speaker Nancy Pelosi's mask rules for the House floor.
"You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany," Greene said in May. "And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about."

The language is changing too. That Chinese woman on CNN makes my blood boil. She looks like a horse.
It demeans the millions of innocents who lost their lives in that horror and cheapens the sacrifices of those who fought to end it.
Find some other imagery if you must but stop the Holocaust references.
The parallels are eerie though. Long before they were imprisoned and killed Jews were mocked and derided by their government and popular culture. Those who simply won't get vaccinated for whatever reason are being given the same treatment. It's not too weird to think they could both go the same way.
>> But constant references to lock downs and ‘’vaccine passports’’ as being akin to The Holocaust is too much
Absolutely not. And should you be Jewish doesn’t mean you, as a Jew, can dictate which analogies and parallels are acceptable.
If you want to compare it to Soviet style authoritarianism that's one thing but to compare it to the deliberate, state sponsored murder of millions of innocent people is just too much.
Constant references to the Holocaust, be it for this or for the likes of AOC crying at an empty parking lot on the border are way out of proportion to the reality of the horror of that time in history.
AOC is a liar. Those protesting vax identification are in fact speaking to aspects of the Yellow Star.
Hyperbole? No! This BS must be snuffed ASAP.
They didn't do that do the Jews at first either. It took years of systematic demonization and incremental steps. That's what people are worried about...
OK, I will do Rwanda instead. That involved years of demonizing and disparaging a group of people (the Tutsis) until the hatred boiled over after a Hutu official was killed in a plane crash.
The Holocaust didn’t start out as a Holocaust, either.
The Jewish people didn’t have the right to protest what was happening to them.
People today do have the right. Can’t you see that?
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Bothers me every time I hear it or read it.
Thank you Bigg Red. For Heavens sake let those poor souls rest in peace. They had no way to protest what was happening to them.
For now, at least.
If that were the case do you think you’d be unmolested by the state sitting at your computer saying this?
