This is from last year, and, yes, I'm well aware that the victim shouldn't have been walking down the middle of the interstate, but this story still does provide a cautionary tale against excessive speeding and other reckless forms of driving.
I hope the hit-and-runners are enjoying the hospitality of the state of Texas in 6 x 9 cells, too.

Just a quick point to everyone: It would be helpful if in the title of the thread you would mention the name of state to provide the reader with a quick frame of reference. Many thanks & Cheers!

Must be a real slow news day if this is “latest articles”.

Yikes! I’ve cycled that stretch of highway. However, when I did so it had not yet been designated an interstate so was legal to ride my bike.

If he had been hit by a car that was obeying the speed limit on an interstate, would he really have been in better shape after being hit (or would he have simply been a better-looking corpse)?

I remember back in the ‘80s I saw an elderly woman walking down the interstate in her nightgown. I was already past by the time I absorbed that and almost to work so I called it in when I got there. I always hoped she was all right!

Wondering how many times he was killed...

Interstates are all clearly marked as off limits to pedestrians and bicycles for very good reasons.

One of the two ‘S’s - Suicide or Senile.
There’s a pretty good chance that whoever hit him was associated with the military = 140,000 in Killeen (including children) about 40,000 soldiers on base (not counting civilian employees).
Trivia footnote- 31 dead at Fort Hood in 2020 - 5 acknowledged homicides, 11 alleged suicides. Unclear how the rest were classified. Life is cheap to the folks at Fort Hood.

Last I heard bicycles and pedestrians are not allowed on Interstate highways. Every hitchhiker has known since the 1960's that the only chance for a ride is while they are still on the on ramps.
