Spending is now rotating back to services like travel and entertainment, with at least 160 million Americans fully immunized against COVID-19. Retail sales are mostly goods, with services such as healthcare, education, travel and hotel accommodation making up the remaining portion of consumer spending.

Restaurants and bars are the only services category in the retail sales report.

U.S. stock index futures held gains after the data. The dollar was steady against a basket of currencies. U.S. Treasury yields rose.

Buy the good now while they are cheap.

Shouldn’t business be booming since most places are no longer under lockdown?

Bingo.

Or same store sales.

Or contract let date (LOC).

Or...

That may be in the future. Making most everything. Wish I knew a source for used hotel/motel towels. We could ditch paper towels. Maybe new ones from a janitorial supply.

Unexpected is correct! Bogus number based on the fact that inflation has hit most ,if not all consumer items! 100 dollars for a section of fence, pickup trucks going for 5000 over sticker. The list goes on!

Yep. Bought two durable good items earlier this year in specific anticipation of Biden/Feds inflation. Just checked on both items. They both went up $100 each!

I don’t know about other Conservatives, but I am boycotting the Biden economy. I will only buy necessary goods while that SOB is in the White House.

“If I pay 50% more for a gallon of gas, it that economic growth?”

It depends on what the seller does with his profit.

I won’t be buying new CNC machinery until after the 2022 midterms.

It has nothing to do with Biden, it just coincides with my upgrade and depreciated equipment schedule.

Sucks for Biden/Harris though.

I buy a box of 40 Great Value cloths from Walmart. They are big enough to use as a dishcloth and for most spills. I like having a clean cloth every time I wipe the kitchen. Throw them in the wash and reuse over and over.

I usually don’t like microfiber but these are soft and absorbent.

Price growth due to inflation is not an increase in economic activity, it is a decrease in the economic efficiency of the dollar you have in savings.

Choice 16” x 19” 18 oz. White 100% Cotton Ribbed Terry Bar Towels in Bulk - 300/Case $90.00 + $20 shipping to residence. $0.37 per towel.

Ought to last years. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/choice-16-x-19-18-oz-white-100-cotton-ribbed-terry-bar-towels-in-bulk-case/1677BRT18CS.html

I’ll have to check ebay for a smaller qty and with free shipping. At $1/roll or more for half way decent paper towels, say, one roll every 3.65 days aka 100 rolls per year or $100/yr. That case of 300 towels looks pretty good considering as you say, they can be washed over and over. I’ll have to ask some neighbors if they want to go in on the 300 qty.
