TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M.—Richard Branson is scheduled to travel to the edge of space Sunday in a flight aimed at spurring a new, multibillion-dollar space-tourism industry.
The flight, originally scheduled for 9 a.m. ET, was delayed 90 minutes on Sunday because of weather overnight at the launch facility in New Mexico. The launch is now scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET.
At that time, a highflying Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc. airplane is expected to take off from the Spaceport America facility near Truth or Consequences. The plane, called the VMS Eve, will carry the spacecraft VSS Unity, which will include Mr. Branson and five others.
The plane will take the spacecraft about 8.5 miles above Earth before releasing Unity about an hour after takeoff. The spacecraft will then rocket to an altitude of more than 50 miles.
The spacecraft is expected to land back in New Mexico, gliding down for a runway landing.

Is he the pilot?
Who was the guy that did that balloon trip thing then disappeared?
Hope it goes well.

How many hungry children is this feeding?
Don’t know. Could be automated from the moment the launch plane drops the rocket?
Only vaguely recall the balloon escapade.
I’m a lot of help, aren’t I? :-)
Is he taking Obozo and Big Mike with him?
“It looks like it’s going to be a fun webcast.
Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show on CBS, will host the webcast along with singer Khalid (who will debut a new single during the launch), former Canadian Space Agency astronaut Chris Hadfield and future Virgin Galactic astronaut Kellie Gerardi, who will launch on a research flight in 2022.”

Really? Maybe he’ll have the space gals go topless in zero g and shake them to Khalid’s song?
I miss watching space travel of the 1960’s, although Musk’s SpaceX has become exciting, especially landing the boosters.
According to liberals, won’t this cause more global warming?
Just like congress, the rich are always exempt.
He’s NOT the pilot. He has a pilot & copilot who have both done test flights in Unity. Branson will be joined by a Virgin Galactic engineer, one of the VG vice presidents in charge of government affairs and research ops (a rather cute young woman of Indian descent) and their director of astronaut training (a very ‘not guilty’ blonde).
Branson DID do a couple of balloon voyages, (which didn’t end all that well). But the guy you are thinking of was Steve Fossett. He was a pilot and sailor extraordinaire who held several world records, many of which still stand today. Fossett did have a tie-in with Branson, in that he piloted the ‘Virgin Global Flyer’, a jet that circumnavigated the globe without refueling.
For all his success, Branson also seems to have bad luck with some of his adventures. I just hope that bad luck doesn’t follow him to this.
Thanks for the info.
Don’t suppose you have any of those not guilty pics that you could share?
(Sorry, not the best pic, but it'll do.)
Wake me up when they develop single stage to orbit. That is when we can send someone to another planet and bring them home safely.
“Wake me up when they develop single stage to orbit. That is when we can send someone to another planet and bring them home safely.”
Ultimately, if we learn to manipulate the force of gravity we will be able to do many things unimaginable now.
How many hungry children are you feeding?
Children are hungry in Africa and elsewhere not because of Branson's space program, or Elon's.
They are not hungry because of the grain-fed steak I plan to eat this afternoon, nor the A/C with which I cool my house.
They are hungry because of corruption & sin in Africa. Because trendy elites and brainless college students self-righteously working to ban GMO crops.
/Rant
I get hungry every day but I’m not a child.
Well said, thank you.
The ship is flying under the rainbow sodomy flag.
lets hope no one screws the pooch

Virgin’s own coverage - which I presumed was going to be the best - is being hosted by Stephen Colbert. Hard pass for me. I just can’t do it.
