About a year ago, Tucker Carlson, the Daily Caller’s top editor, joined famed conspiratorialist Alex Jones for a discussion about American society and politics. In an exchange that attracted some attention on the Internet, Jones spun one of his classic theories about how the country is changing:
The Democrats went from being the Ku Klux Klan party of race, with Sen. Byrd and all them, to literally going, ‘OK, we’re going to go race-politic with the minorities, make them the majority.’ And so basically they went from financing…La Raza, all the Ford Foundation. And that’s why you have this new race-based system where we all have been conditioned as Republicans or as Libertarians or as white people to be, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re loving, we’re not racist — yes, please, do whatever, I’m sorry I’m white, and beat ourselves with whips on the head. And then meanwhile, the Democrats have just recreated the Ku Klux Klan movement, but they’ve done it with minorities.
Presented with those thoughts (and others — Jones’s monologue was longer than the quote above), Carlson responded, “Yeah, there’s a lot of truth in that. I wish there weren’t. There’s no question that the country is more race-conscious than it was when I was a kid.”
Question: Why didn’t Carlson stick up for his party?
According to D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics spokeswoman Denise Tolliver, Carlson is a registered Democrat in the District of Columbia. His registration dates back to 2006. He has company: The District is three-quarters Democratic — some people whose politics align with a competing party register Democratic in order to assert their preferences in critical Democratic primaries.
The fast-talking Carlson likes to portray himself and the Daily Caller as bastions of independent thinking.

At one point in my life I was a registered Democrat as well, also an independent. True for lots of folks. BFD.
Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump were both Democrats.
Reagan proved his bonafides by being Governor of California twice.
It’s a hit piece, even back then. And a lot of people, even Freepers, are falling for it. Tucker is the real deal conservative and about the only news I can stand to watch. I’d love to know why some freepers have a problem with him.
RE: It’s a hit piece, even back then.
Ronald Reagan was a Democrat
Donald Trump was a Democrat and even contributed to Hillary’s Senate Campaign
Herman Cain was a Democrat
Michelle Bachmann was a Democrat from High School to College
Rudy Giuliani was a Democrat prior to 1975. He volunteered for Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1968. He also worked as a Democratic Party committeeman on Long Island in the mid-1960s and voted for George McGovern for president in 1972.
There used to be a time when the Democrat Party could vote for patriotism, lower taxes and traditional family values.
The DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF HARRY TRUMAN AND JFK IS NO MORE.
Yes, if he were registered as a Republican he'd basically have no vote at all.
I'm 71, and I grew up in Kentucky so my father advised that I register as a Democrat so that I had a vote. If you wanted to run for office in Kentucky in those days you could be conservative, or you could be liberal, but you had to call yourself a Democrat if you wanted any chance of being elected.
In the early 1980s in Florida it was pretty much the same but it was changing, and so I decided that I could no longer live the lie.
As I recall, the late Robert Novak registered himself as a Democrat since there was little hope for a Republican being elected, appointed or invited to a local political office.
A member of the press would not want to be excluded from important political meetings because of his party affiliation, after all.
Tucker Carlson probably saw the same reality when he established residence in the district.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Carlson could do a 180 and turn left on a dime anytime there’s something in it for him. Scarboro did it. Geraldo is a registered republican. Would you vote for him? I would in Maine perhaps.
So they want us to dismiss Tucker’s revelation about the NSA and spying? Do I care about his voting registration??
If a left-wing journalist was spied upon and complained about it, am I to say “so what”?
NO.
Conservatives don’t like the abuse by government no matter who the victim is.
Rationalize it however you like, I won’t waste my time arguing with delusional people. For the record I don’t hate Tucker, just don’t entirely trust him after he went along with the scam election. He was one of the few segments on Fox news I even bothered to watch any more for what its worth.
My wife is a registered Democrat. I switched my registration to Republican when I moved here 41 years ago, she didn’t.
I haven’t voted for a Democrat in all those years and neither has she.
The fact that Tucker is/was a registered Democrat is MEANINGLESS!
Tucker and Fox and by extension everyone at Fox betrayed the entire country by ignoring, burying the obvious election fraud that put the Democrats in power.According to lewislynn President Trump is the biggest "SUCKER" whose... "got some learn'n to do" because he still goes on FOX News:You got some learn'n to do.
SUCKERS!
SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS HOST: And welcome to HANNITY.
And tonight, we are broadcasting from the South Texas airport. We're only a few miles from the U.S./Mexico border where for the entire hour we will be joined by the 45th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, along with the Texas governor, Greg Abbott. And we'll also ask the president about some other questions, other issues of the day.
RE: My wife is a registered Democrat
Why doesn’t she switch?
He’s talked about it many times. S&F is just trying to make him look bad.
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson — a registered Democrat — explains why he always votes for the most corrupt mayoral candidate
Tucker Carlson: I don’t want to give the party thing because it’s actually misleading. I never vote so that’s the truth. I didn’t vote this time, I never do. “Then you don’t have the right to give your opinion” — yeah, I do. And in fact, I do.
I’m registered with a party that I sincerely despise because I think it’s really a force for bad in this country and it’s the Democratic party. But I’m registered because I live in the district, it’s a one-party state and the one election I always vote in is the mayor’s race because it matters. I own property there, I raised four children there. If you live in the city, I think it’s worth voting for an election so I always do.
I always vote for the more corrupt candidate over the idealist. Always. The person who will just like be happy taking payoffs from developers and leave me alone. This is like a meaningful decision in my life. Every four years, there’s some guy who’s like, “I’m going to make your life better!” I vote against that person every single time. You know what I mean? It’s usually some progressive candidate who’s got big plans for me, and so, I just vote for the status quo, corrupt criminal operation that runs the city and I’m really happy with that.
RE: President Trump is the biggest “SUCKER” whose... “got some learn’n to do” because he still goes on FOX News:
Why is this a loser?
As long as there is a major network willing to give him a hearing (e.g. Sean Hannity ), it’s better than nothing.
I’ll also add DC can’t vote for President.
The fact that he was a registered democrat isn’t really the issue here, that’s more of a distraction. It’s his seemingly cozy relationship with Hunter Biden as exhibited in the emails which concerns me.
Tucker and Fox and by extension everyone at Fox betrayed the entire country...... "SUCKER" Trump is giving them ratings and legitimacy.
I would not deem those who "betrayed America" worthy of an interview.
Trump could have sat with OANN.
He talked about the laptop last night. He dropped it before the 2020 election after having covered it for days because it was obviously going nowhere.
I’ll watch him for free. He reports on a lot of things that no one else does and there’s no three member panels arguing for half an hour. He doesn’t interrupt his guests. I could care less how some tv personality votes.
