"Objects in history may be closer than they appear"--Vlad Tepes. For those of us old to remember, the brutal takedown of the false promise of communism, an ideology so evil it survives despite being constantly discredited.
Thank you for the post. the first time a link to Daily motion, a site that needs to displace youtube. thank you.
The fate of the Ceausescu’s remained on my mind for eight long years after 2008. A ‘dangling participle’ of an historic lesson.
For me, THIS is when it ended.
....and now it's a tourist attraction, like Abbey Road, but better.
It couldn't have happened to a more deserving couple.
I find that ‘tourist’ scene ...morbidly breathtaking!
However, if I was from that country, and several of my family had suffered under the Ceausescu regime, I would probably want to celebrate too.
Watched the whole video. Fascinating.
Too bad no subtitles.
Just watched this video, done by a man who came to USA from Russia in 1992 as a baby.

5 minutes, in Russian
A truly glorious day, and how shameful that it hasn’t been repeated in a hundred other countries since then.
I lived in Bucharest for the past two years and have spoken with quite a few Romanians, young and old. It’s truly an experience most Americans can’t grasp.
The lack of clear video of the shooting is a result of the lead solider, upon seeing them, erupting in fury and opening fire with his automatic rifle. He had been told to wait for the reading of the sentence, but his rage would not be stilled. The others joined him. Over 100 rounds were shot at the monstrous pair. Justice was done to the man who had just days before ordered peaceful protesters shot dead in Bucharest demonstration, sparking the revolution, and the military revolt.
Look at those sweet kids! So happy to be freed of these turds! There’s really very little difference between these two and our current “admin”.
We’ve got our own Elena Ceausescu now, complete with fake degree.
Cheap Mussolini and wife imitators but actually worse in terms of human rights violations and mass torture/executions.
Both bunches were allowed to “hang around” for a while, upside down as I recall.
Since May I have been going to Romania plenty of times (Bucharest and Transylvania) and I feel in love with the place. I remember seeing a mug at a store in old town Bucharest that had the dictators picture on it. When I asked the older lady at the store, she said that it was not up to her and that she was glad he and his wife was dead and feels not shame being glad of that.
1. Is it just me, or did N.C.’s mouth close while the camera was on him after the shooting? Might that be the actual moment of death? I would not be opposed to his having felt every wound for that long.
2. Mad Max’s memory notwithstanding, the video shows the burials. There may have been a delay for public display between the events, but it doesn’t look like it.
I thought that they carried out the execution so quickly that the cameras didn’t have time to set up?
Captain Ionel Boeru said he believed he killed both with is his Kalashnikov on automatic as soon as they were both positioned against the wall blind folded because neither Sergeant-Major Georghin Octavian nor Dorin-Marian Cirlan fired their rifle.
The firing squad began shooting as soon as the two were in position against a wall. The execution happened too quickly for the television crew assigned to the trial and death sentence to videotape it in full; only the last round of shots was filmed.
One would have thought that after taking a few dozen of the 120 rounds fired they would have already fallen by the time the crew started filming.
Bill and Hillary were not on that slippery slope-be careful.
I actually watched (no Youtube yet then) the a captain self exiled for his safety who was assigned ready to shoot if loyalists would come swarm them to their rescue, he wasn’t one of the shooter, he said shooting came too sporadic, probably before anyone change their mind, brat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat...
