The Ford Mustang Mach-E just keeps gaining steam as the year goes on.
We all knew it was coming—the day Ford would sell more of an electric car than it would its iconic Mustang. That day is here, and it's all the more painful for those who are V8 diehards. The reason why, exactly, is because the EV in question is the one that inherited the Mustang's name: the Mach-E.
First confirmed in Ford's June sales report Friday morning, then observed by Automotive News' Michael Martinez on Twitter, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E outsold its pony car namesake last month, moving 2,465 units to the normal Mustang's 2,240. The combustion-engined model, however, still leads the Mach-E in total sales this year, having managed 31,950 to the EV's 12,975 in 2021.

Well… duh… it’s an SUV!
I don’t care what they call it, that is NOT A MUSTANG!
Can someone help me understand how the are going to get the extra electrical generation for all of the required charging of said vehicles. What will they then due with the spent batteries of the said green vehicles, because they can recycle them..... Nope!
+1
Doesn’t look enough like a Mustang for my taste.
Base don the Ford Explorer chassis. I guess of men can call themselves women Ford can call an SUV a Mustang.
2,465 Mach-E's in a month and 12,975 in half a year for a brand spanking new model, isn't success.
Well, different strokes for different folks.
I’m sure Ford saw a use case for electric vehicles that they could make $$$ on. Good for them.
I’m not going to begrudge a person for their own choice.
Just don’t mandate mine.

The useful thing is the amount of new generating capacity required if the whole country move to EVs is essentially zero.
Currently every power plant runs at about 20% capacity overnight. If EVs are charged on timers they don’t need anything more than the existing spare capacity.
Not to mention when the batteries catch fire (and they do) they cannot be extinguished.
The Government Ministry of Electricity Dispersion will take car of it. Don't you worry.
Wut. I believe it’s already the 3rd-best selling EV in the country.
...and all the local transformers melt. They weren’t designed for these loads if everyone is charging together.
I don't know if that's true. especially on summer nights.
But beyond that, power plants need energy sources to generate electricity. Your response doesn't address that.
Most EV'ers don't.
Okay then. EV's from at least the third "best" selling on down haven't succeeded.
It’ll be gone from the line-up within 2 years. It’s an ugly POS.
Solar runs at zero capacity overnight.....
