Black Widow sauntered into the mainstream consciousness in 2010’s Iron Man 2. Not walked—sauntered. Natasha Romanoff, the Russian agent turned U.S. spy played by Scarlett Johansson, first meets Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) when he’s working out in a boxing ring with his employee, played by Jon Favreau, the film’s director. Favreau’s Happy Hogan condescendingly offers to teach Natasha how to box, so she slips off her high heels, slinks into the ring and immediately kicks the man’s butt. That’s the joke: Surprise! This unbelievably fit woman can fight.
But it’s the moment after Natasha handily beats Happy that truly rankled fans. Stark turns to his assistant turned girlfriend Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow. “Who is she?” Tony asks. To which Pepper replies, “Potentially a very expensive sexual harassment lawsuit.” Tony, after Googling for photos of Natasha in her underwear, quips, “I want one.”
Victoria Alonso, executive vice president of production at Marvel Studios, never liked the line. “It bothered me then and it bothers me now,” says Alonso, who was a co-producer of Iron Man 2. “I remember thinking, ‘She’s not a thing.’ But how apropos: the world sees a sexy woman and thinks that because she is beautiful, that’s all she has to give.” The scene feels like a relic of a pre-#MeToo Hollywood.

That wouldn’t be proper, but let’s just say Ms Johansson hopes she holds up as well into her sixties as my gal has. Johansson is what we used to call a “butter face”.

An early review was this movie “stinks on ice”. I’m talking ‘New Ghostbusters’ bad.
There is nothing wrong with the idea that physically fit fighters of either gender are attractive. Likewise that those who are *not* physically fit, with passive or whiny personalities are *not* seen as attractive.
But beyond physically fit, external appearance matters a lot less. This also irritates shallow people, that they cannot easily and cheaply make themselves attractive to others.
They can afford to be woke now that the franchise has made them wealthy. If they really wanted to show how virtuous they are, they should have turned down the job in the first place. It’s funny how none of them has anything to say about how ridiculous it is that they portray her small character kicking equally fit men, twice her sizes butts. Somehow we are supposed to believe that BS. All of Hollywood can go jump in a lake as far as I’m concerned.
Pretend that it corrects previous politically incorrect crappy comic book movies ...
But that's an impingement on their freedoms - they'd rather make biology illegal, instead. :)

No but there is so ehti g very off-putting about watching a 90 lb noodle arm woman kick the crap out of 10-20 250 lb martial art masters, while making every male in the movie look like a complete moron who couldn’t fight gheir way out of a wet paper bag (I don’t know if she does or not, but knowing g Hollywood I wouldn’t put it past them to incorporate that idiotic scenario just to malign men a d put women on a pedestal)

I always thought that intro scene with her and Stark was more of a commentary on his character flaws and weaknesses, not about her. She is clearly competent at her job and writes a scathing report on how he is not fit for the Avengers Project at the end.
Then again professional grievance pushers gotta make up a grievance about something.
Years ago, back in the mid-70’s and in the ago of the Wide World of Sports (remember that program), there was a martial arts contest between a man and woman. The woman said she could beat the man or some feminist BS. The match did not last long. What ended the match was the woman did a move, hit the guy, whereas he was knocked back a step, did a spin move and caught her on the side of the head with the heel of his foot. She went down like a sack of rocks and was knocked out. I always think of this when I see the 90 pound woman kicking arse on 10-20 physically fit men. It’s all Hollywood BS.

Summary: fans all loved the character of Black Widow and the character growth she had in the films. Feminists complained because they hate everything so now Marvel is going to ruin her.
