You'll be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free if you're already a Windows 10 user. Use the PC Health Check app to check your devices now.
Windows 11 is on the way, and if you're already a Windows 10 user, it will be free to upgrade to Microsoft's newly redesigned operating system, the company said in a blog post after its virtual event on Thursday. (Find everything you need to know about Windows 11 here.) So long as your PC meets the minimum requirements, you'll be able to update to Windows 11 the same way you usually update Windows 10 -- once it starts rolling out during the 2021 holiday season and into 2022 (we don't have an exact date yet).
To see if your current Windows 10 PC is eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 11, visit Windows.com to download the PC Health Check app. (Here's a set of full instructions for how to use the PC Health Check app and what information it will tell you.) And if you buy a new PC between now and the general release, that computer will also be eligible for the free upgrade.

Stupid windows updates nearly every time I turn on the laptop. Must be a real pos OS. Glad for iPads.
I shall wait until the very end to download it. Just to make sure it has all of the ‘bugs and gliches’ out of it. And to see if it doesn’t end up being another flop that Microsoft wish it had never issued. I cant remember the name of the one that was so horrible a few years ago...perhaps Windows 8?
My desktop is compatible(Dell PC) my 2012 Sony laptop is not..too darn old..those windows updates are annoying as hell though..every week I get those beta updates always seem to have to install them
Oh yes, it does not say so, but be ready to buy more RAM for your PC.
Exactly
If it isn’t a mandatory forced update I will wait and let everyone else be the Guinea Pigs.
I thought Windows 10 was the be all and end all, the last iteration of Windows you’ll ever need.
Won’t help. Windows 11 will require 110 updates after waiting 6 months.
Windows 10 was updated 100 times.
Good news: Microsoft is going to offer Google’s Android apps (that will allegedly be able to ‘run natively’ in Windows 11)...through the Amazon portal in the Microsoft store. So, you can be sure to share all of your most personal information with all three of the worst privacy corporations in America, conveniently (for them) all at the very same time.
Yay?
Looks like Windows 11 requires a 64 bit processor.
My old laptop is 32 bit. Goody Goody, I will stay with 10 and skip all those slow updates.
It is the be-all end-all until the earnings begin to flag. Then a new OS becomes mandatory.
Never believed it for a second. My wife and I just laughed and laughed when Microsoft peddled that bunk.
>>(Some of us) can’t live with them. Can’t live without them.<<
Can’t kill ‘em.
>>Windows 10 was updated 100 times.<<
In the first week after release IIRC.
Yay?
If it's not too late maybe they can rename it Windows 666. (I hope they don't see this post. They would probably think it's a great idea.)
I’m still using windows 7.
Windows 11 Look Inspired by KDE Plasma and GNOME , Linux , LOL
My working laptop is an older ThinkPad 530 with two SSDs and 12GB of RAM. One boots Linux Mint, the other (if I must) Win 10. Never the two worlds shall meet. I’ve had effing Windows updates bust GRUB before, and this is the only way to be safe.
I’m still using windows 7.
and loving it. (/Maxwell Smart)
