My desktop is compatible(Dell PC) my 2012 Sony laptop is not..too darn old..those windows updates are annoying as hell though..every week I get those beta updates always seem to have to install them

My working laptop is an older ThinkPad 530 with two SSDs and 12GB of RAM. One boots Linux Mint, the other (if I must) Win 10. Never the two worlds shall meet. I’ve had effing Windows updates bust GRUB before, and this is the only way to be safe.

Other than for 1 or 2 programs that only run under Windows and I just run them in a VM (Windows running on top of my OS) I run Linux. It runs faster. It has no virus issues. Your data is your data. 80% or more of the web runs on Linux. MacOS/IOS are Linux (locked down with training wheels.) Any of your routers, fridges or any other internet connected stuff runs Linux. Take the leap. Install Linux Mint on that laptop. It is easiest for Windows users to adapt to with very little learning curve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI7QQqnV1P8
