Bennett joined with the Islamist party to get rid of Netanyahu. Be fearful of anyone who makes a deal with the devil to get power.
Your examples of Israel and Mexico were great.
Both knew what was coming, and acted accordingly.
I agree with you about Israeli intelligence, but my take is the opposite. Bibi knew Trump’s number was up, and there was no reason to piss off what was coming into power right off the bat.
No foreign government, save China, was going to determine America’s president.
The thing is that the old guard (so to speak) is just getting to old... just like me and most here.
I don’t have high hopes for the next generation but they are them...
Bennett signed a pledge not to join govt with Lapid as prime minister, but he lied. Afer the election, Bennett betrayed his voters and sided with the anti-Bibi bloc.
People were conned.
Netanyahu's primary constituency is right-leaning Americans. In Israel, he has used the idea that he alone can keep America as a steadfast ally of Israel. He was very crafty in working with an openly hostile Obama administration and dancing a very fine diplomatic line with congressional republicans to help keep Israeli interests from leaving the American list of priorities. But to prove his singular value, he has over the years sabotaged anyone in his party or any coalition he has been a part of who gets too popular. Do that long enough and you get enough enemies that screwy coalitions like the current one can become a reality.
Now that Netanyahu is out of power, expect a lot of people who where too scared to confront him to step out and try to bury him.
Big mistake Israel has made!
“He has a first class intelligence operation. He knew beyond a doubt of the corruption and the election steal.”
The Israelis absolutely knew all about the steal. But their intelligence is also good enough to know that no one was willing to fight it.
Israeli are as dumb as our American Jews.
Bibi has been PM for a decade and a half.
Be hard to say BiBi doesn’t have political support and wasn’t popular.
Be hard to say he doesn’t have enemies, too, right and left.
I have very mixed emotions re: Bibi, mainly stemming from growing up in Gush Katif (worth a Google for your edification).
He started out a milk toast center right guy like Romney (who was his friend) and slowly got pushed right really by the insanity and anyisemitism of the American left.
Long way of saying this was complicated.
That said, the final victory was from a a small group of liberals who effectly lied and pretended to be conservative to get votes.
It was just as big a fraud as what happened to Trump.
True. Western world is unique in that it has political parties that hate their own.
Odd you expect that...Bennett has a long time track record of being to the right of Bibi, and is dead set against ANY kind of “Palestinian state”
Ditto that.
Exactly.
They do. It was how the coalition was formed to get him out. Sort of like the coalition here in the U.S. to get Trump out.
Agreed, Bibi can go screw himself.
The Likud(Netanyahu's party) received more votes than any other party.
Israelis are as dumb as our American Jews.

Not dumber just both have the same suicidal urges, under Peres it was an open question who would win the Palis aided by the Israeli left and Bill Clinton or the saner heads that prevailed, of which Bibi was one.
Now that he is out for the moment, the old urges will kick back in especially since the in crowd has no plan other than getting rid of Bibi and has given M. Abbas a prominent position in the government. They only formed a government by one vote.
Well, I guess my ignorance is on parade. I based my comment on an article a "conservative" wrote for the New York Times. If the Times chose him, I figure he's pretty far to the left. He said that everyone in the new government had to give up something. I read that as he's going to cave in to the Palestinians and the left. It's a case where I hope I'm wrong.
Bennett did have to make some background "deals" with a handful of "centrists", arab parties, and outright leftists to be able to get a majority and form a government (Bibi blasted Bennett for that but was hypocritically trying to offer his own "Sweeter deals" in backroom talks trying to convince the Arab parties to switch sides and back him for PM). Contrary to what a bunch of FReepers are claiming, leftists did not "take over" the Israeli government and the political parties in their parliament who are outright leftist (Labor and Meretz) are a shell of their former selves and only won a handful of seats in the last election, so they ended up with just a few second tier cabinet posts in this "coalition government", like Minister of Transportation, and head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
I don't expect Bennett to move leftward and sell us out, but also realistically I think his government is so hopefully divided that they won't be able to accomplish anything besides oust Bibi. I expect him to try to continue most of Bibi's conservative policies without having the baggage that Bibi brought to them, and I'm fine with that.
I think the best case scenario is this new government collapses before 2023 so "centrist" Yair never gets a chance to "rotate in" as PM, and Likud comes back and wins big in the next election by starting fresh WITHOUT Bibi as the face of their party.
Please don't conflate Netanyahu and Donald Trump. It does a great disservice to the President.
After 35 years in power, 15 as PM, Netanyahu is the epicenter of the Israeli deep state. Isreal becamee something to serve Netanyahu, not the other way around.
It's time to clean out the self-serving corruption of Benjamin Netanyahu and allow a new generaton of Israelis to assume the mantle of leadership.
Even if Bibi throws a hissy fit.
