A federal judge just ruled against over 100 Houston hospital workers who will be fired if they don't get the COVID-19 vaccine

A federal judge tossed out a lawsuit from more than 100 hospital employees who sued Houston Methodist over its policy requiring all staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The workers alleged in their lawsuit that the hospital was "forcing its employees to be human 'guinea pigs' as a condition for continued employment." They also accused the hospital of violating the Nuremberg Code of 1947, likening the vaccine mandate to Nazi medical experimentation on concentration camp prisoners.

US District Judge Lynn Hughes was not sympathetic to either argument, writing in his order of dismissal Saturday evening that none of the employees were forced or coerced to take the vaccine. He also noted that the hospital cannot violate the Nuremberg Code because it is a private employer, not a government.

"Equating the injection requirement to medical experimentation in concentration camps is reprehensible," Hughes wrote. "Nazi doctors conducted medical experiments on victims that caused pain, mutilation, permanent disability, and in many cases, death."

He added that the workers were free to accept or reject a vaccine and that they would "simply need to work elsewhere" if they chose the latter.

"If a worker refuses an assignment, changed office, earlier start time, or other directive, he may be properly fired. Every employment includes limits on the worker's behavior in exchange for his remuneration," Hughes wrote. "That is all part of the bargain."

He ruled in favor of a private employer. Even the language of his ruling suggests that he’d have a very different view of a government-imposed mandate.

Baking a cake or not is trivial compared to forcing people to accept an experimental synthetic Messenger RNA injection approved under an emergency use authorization.

You can’t unjab yourself.

I agree that companies may be able to do this, BUT they also assume liability for ANY adverse effects.

Yes you are in a tiny minority that understands the actual constitution and the law. The judge was absolutely correct (and notice how they are turning on a Reagan appointee so quickly too). The other side is particularly butt hurt that the judge called out the nazi comparison which we see over and over again here on FR by the antivaxxer as reprehensible.

Private business is allowed to require what they wish. It is a private contract between two people. Apparently our so called conservative friends are really CINO as now they want law fare and to impose their will on everyone who disagrees with them

Good ruling by an actual conservative judge. Nice to see that he took those apart who would be so disgraceful as to invoke Nuremberg and Nazis.

1. Constitutional principles shouldn't vary based on how trivial a measure may or may not be.

2. It's comical to be seeing these arguments presented by someone like you -- whose hysteria and fear-mongering over COVID back in the spring of 2020 was so pathetic that it earned you the moniker "Greta McGee." LOL.

"I by far consider 'Greta' McGee to be one of the most obnoxious of the fearmongers ..."

You've been exposed, dude.

I agree with you on that — which is why I would never impose a vaccine requirement on any of my employees under any circumstances.

Well the judge pretty much shredded the Nuremberg code argument properly. And a parent can give consent for his or her child. Would you stand between a parent and his or her child? How is that different than the liberals who demand to insert themselves in the parent child relationship?

Seems to be you are more in agreement with the it takes a village crowd rather than the conservative side which preserves the sacrosanct parent child relationship.

Since when is there a “right” to a particular job?

Most jobs are for best qualified applicants and the employer has the right to determine those qualifications within certain limits.

However, these drugs are still considered to be experimental and any employee that is required to take these drugs as a condition of employment would be entitled to workers compensation for any serious side effects causing injury.

So now you are calling someone who supports freedom a racist. I am literally stunned. You have perfected the liberal play book.

Shame on you

Nobody, not in govt nor at a corporation, is "free" to demand that free people must take an experimental synthetic Messenger RNA gene therapy injection that cannot be "unjabbed."

It's particularly galling that children are next up for the forced jab, in order to return to school etc.

Medical experimentation on children, who are incapable of giving informed consent, was banned after WW2.

This nitwit has been exposed.

At least he's consistent in one thing: It has nothing to do with the law, or with principles. It's all about HIM, and what makes HIM feel safe.

Yeah. Old hockey stick McGee. Greta. His posts of panic were legendary at the beginning of covid. It’s hard to take them as intellectually consistent. Panic with CoVId. Panic with vaccines. If you read the antivaxxer threads you also find they hate the idea of actual development of targeted therapeutics. They are completely stuck in the let’s never do anything that actually is good and are not proud of American ingenuity.

There was a time when in America we celebrated our ingenuity. There was nothing we couldn’t do. The Manhattan Project brought the greatest minds in the world together snd created something to stop a world war and quickly. We put a man on the moon in a shirt matter of a few years when the Russians were way ahead of us. Over and over again we have shown that Americans solve the worlds biggest problems.

President Trump was a visionary. He rolled the dice and trusted in Americans. He manufactured the vaccine confident that American know how would produce something that worked. And work it did! We should be celebrating this fact. This should lead to a boom in medical research and development.

But instead we have those who are so afraid and so narrow minded that they now call fellow conservatives racists and Nazis. Frankly for his racist post Travis should be severely sanctioned. (And don’t you love how they can only communicate in memes. It’s like dealing with a teenage girl). The antivaxxer with their cult leader and high priestess offer nothing blew. Just insults and arrogance. You are the real patriot my friend. You offer both reason and an understanding of what freedom is.

Thank you for your insight. It is spot on.

Yes Matt. I know you can put in your hockey stick graphic. Of course that graphic is a self reported non controlled data base that says it is not in anyway demonstrating cause or correlation. But you skip that because you are intellectually dishonest.

Your restless and panicked posts at the beginning have now transitioned to your incorrect statements today. The judge squarely nailed your argument to a wall then destroyed it.

The judge was correct. And all your bluster is just that. Might want to get your facts right.

Classy. Calling us nazis. Usually that is the statement that demonstrates you have kissed an argument. And as you say go eff yourself. Buy there is some real logical and linguistic brio. How erudite can you be.
