AMERICA LAST: Biden Dumped Trump’s Cheap Insulin Program On Same Day He Promised 500 MILLION Vaccines For Other Countries

"The United states will purchase an additional half billion doses from Pfizer, Pfizer vaccine, that will donate nearly 100 low and lower middle income countries, they will be the beneficiaries."

===========================================================================

The Biden administration quietly ended President Donald Trump’s policy that saw many Americans receive lower cost insulin and epinephrine pens on the same day he promised to purchase 500 million COVID-19 vaccines to be sent to foreign countries. Yesterday, Biden promised world leaders at the G7 summit that the United States of America would finance the purchase of 500 million COVID-19 vaccines to be given to poor countries at almost precisely the same time the White House budget office approved Biden’s plan to slash a Trump-era program that provided low cost insulin and epinephrine pens to low income Americans.

Covfefe Coffee On the ending of the Trump-era program, Fox Business reported, “The measure, signed off on under the previous administration in December, aimed to require some 340B community health centers to deliver savings to low-income patients for insulin and epinephrine in a bid to bring down unaffordable prices.” Fox Business notes that the Biden administration refused to offer a comment when asked by the cable network.

Hours earlier, Biden promised to unveil an American-led worldwide program to address COVID-19 vaccines as he prepared to leave the United States for the United Kingdom to meet with world leaders. After arriving, and only an hour before the White House budget office would make its announcement regarding insulin and epinephrine pens, the Washington Post revealed the administration’s plan to buy 500 million Pfizer vaccines, and reported that “President Biden is slated to announce the plan this week at the Group of Seven meeting in Britain, where he is expected to be joined by Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.”

This happened earlier today, with Biden appearing before the international media to make the announcement. Today we’re taking a major step that will super charge the fight against the global pandemic. “At my direction, the United states will purchase an additional half billion doses from Pfizer, Pfizer vaccine, that will donate nearly 100 low and lower middle income countries, they will be the beneficiaries. Let me say that again, the United States will purchase a half a billion doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to donate to nearly 100 nations that are in dire need in the fight against this pandemic.”

Biden added, bragging about spending United States tax dollars to help “low and lower middle income countries,” that his decision represents “A historic step. The largest single purchase and donation of COVID-19 vaccines by any single country ever. Importantly, this is the mRNA vaccine, which is proven to be extremely effective against COVID-19 and every known variant of that virus thus far. ”

Biden made the decision even as many Americans continue to struggle from the effects of a year or more in lockdown, and as the economy makes an extremely sluggish recovery that has defied expectations with extremely low job numbers, and as Americans brace for rates of inflation that have not been seen since the recession of 2008.

Just curious - is there any evidence that Insulin actually helps Type 2 diabetics live longer, with few complications, than no Insulin? I do get that it lowers blood sugar...just haven’t seen anything beyond that.

You mean no evidence beyond the fact that before insulin, a diagnosis of diabetes was a death sentence? That evidence?

For Type 1’s, yes, but I was asking about Type 2’s.

Less Social Security checks to send out; not to mention the Medicaid cost for nursing home care. Those governors saved a lot of money

Hmmm. Fair point.

Type 2 can survive under a very restrictive diet and exercise regimen.

I can’t determine if the long term medical outcome is better living with insulin and a more normal lifestyle, or surviving without insulin, never having a slice of birthday cake, a sandwich, an Italian dinner, or even an unplanned lunch with co-workers?

Man does not live by bread alone, nor is a life without bread exactly what I would call living either.

With insulin and avoiding excessive amounts of yummy foods, and some foods altogether, my last A1c was 5.6, a average non-diabetic A1c is 5.2. A diabetic’s holy grail is anything below 7.0...

Thanks for the ping. Biden and his handlers are like selfish children. Cancelling the insulin program is a shame.

I can't quote stats or articles about this but I know insulin is a life saving drug. My ex-wife is a prime example. Without her insulin injections she would have been dead long ago. She frets about a situation (calamity) where she'll be unable to get insulin.

The largest single purchase and donation of COVID-19 vaccines by any single country ever.

Wow.. “Ever.” And the vaccines have been available for over a whole six months.

Thanks, my sister was diagnosed with diabetes decades ago but refused to go on insulin - she didn’t get the idea of chasing a number, so she went low carb - not keto, but getting rid of the bulk carbs (potatoes, rice, sugar, and bread), and it seems to work for her, at least so far.

That’s why I was wondering - sure having super-high levels of blood sugar is bad, but does anyone even know if having super-high levels of insulin is bad. But I think even my sister would agree that eating high-carb food as a diabetic is asking for bad things, but no one can argue about them being DELICIOUS!

then once again, the media are complicit. If this story is true, it should spark national outrage. I remember when President Trump made this announcement for the program. The nurses and people in that room were so enthusiastic and cheering. An act such as cancelling this kind of hope should have people reaching for pitchforks. What a callous, idiotic thing to do.
