For Type 1’s, yes, but I was asking about Type 2’s.

Hmmm. Fair point.

Type 2 can survive under a very restrictive diet and exercise regimen.

I can’t determine if the long term medical outcome is better living with insulin and a more normal lifestyle, or surviving without insulin, never having a slice of birthday cake, a sandwich, an Italian dinner, or even an unplanned lunch with co-workers?

Man does not live by bread alone, nor is a life without bread exactly what I would call living either.

With insulin and avoiding excessive amounts of yummy foods, and some foods altogether, my last A1c was 5.6, a average non-diabetic A1c is 5.2. A diabetic’s holy grail is anything below 7.0...
