I'm rapidly approaching the able-to-go-public event on my 5,000 year project, filing for the enabling patent!
At that point I'll post details here on FR for all to see, and especially for those who have expressed curiosity, but been unwilling to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. This will also free those who have signed and know about it from needing to continue to keep it confidential.
But that's not why I'm posting a plea for help today.
I want to have the fundraising vehicles in place when I file. I'M NOT ASKING YOU FOR MONEY!
If you have experience with Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Patreon or other crowd funding, I'd like input on your preferences, warnings for how avoid bad experiences, advice, tips or other insights.
There will also be a need for industry and academic sponsors. More about the project and why institutional investors might be interested when there is a 'patent pending' to attach to disclosures.
I think most FReepers will find it a worthy project, and more comments and such will be gratefully accepted at that time.
Thanks in advance...
Sorry, dude, I rushed to patent my own faster than light technology this week. You came that close! Just kidding, of course. ;-)
Good luck on your endeavor.
oh wait, you were kidding.
Thanks!
Your “5,000 year project.”
Optimistic, aren’t you? I try to finish my projects a lot sooner than that...1,000 years tops.
No experience, nully. thanks. this will be interesting. BUMP!
I’m not expecting to be around for the whole project.
Think of it as akin to an old man plating a tree he will never sit in the shade of, nor eat a single bite of its fruit.
Yeah. BIG time!
wrong forum. is not news. please move.
... on my 5,000 year project,The wheel has already been invented.
I can help set up your fund raising. It’s pretty easy to do. Ping me when time.
I don’t remember getting an NDA? Lol
Let me know what you’ve been working on, when you are ready.
Godspeed!
Funding is always the issue. If you have a great Idea but no sales, you will have to give up a lot of equity. I have a new project myself. An attorney I know loves it, and gave me $50,000 for a 5% share. Should be self funding after that.
It’s the activism part of News/Activism.
That will become very clear when I can tell all!
I could send you an NDA and after signing, tell you all today.
Wonderful!
Most of the Kick Starter programs I’ve seen include at least real life prototypes of some gizmo along with rather polished videos...and a promise to donors to be first to receive the product...
Trying searching youtube....
Don’t know how that fits with your project.
Patreon has mixed reviews. They take a not inconsiderable fee, payments lag. Seem to be Woke in so far as conservative ideas go dropping yt channels, blogs, etc such as Crowder, et al. With them you still need a web presence to showcase your idea...and there’s the rub...need more than one “ad” to get attention
PM Travis McGee on how he did it with his books and various blog items.
That’s all I’ve got....bump
An attorney gave YOU money? Wow! I've never even heard of cash flow in that direction when dealing with an attorney. ;)
I’ve paid two different patent attorneys for consultation and am always interested in other inventors experiences. I’ll sign a NDA to look at your project.
Yeah, it might be at least marginally helpful if anyone knew what the hell that was.
Cool backstory, bro.
Not.
I have a patent pending on a device to make all of humblegunner’s posts friendly and enlightening.
I have proof of principle parts for a critical leg of the project, several NDA signers have them now.
It is an quintessentially conservative project, given that Patreon, may not be the way to go.
Matt? Covinator’s saying nice things about you...
