My middle daughter loves the chickens. At first when younger, she was upset once. But then tasted the Darling chicken strips and was over it. She would then pick out the “best one” by name. She liked them bbq on the grill and makes amazing bbq now. I dunno. We might be weird. But eat good.

The young male that is in this picture caught the eye of some urban explorers in Russia. He and his friends have joined a group that are known in Russia to jump and hang from the tallest buildings in the country, despite being thousands of feet off the ground, the group still refuse to use safety equipment.

Organza bags. I use them on ripening Figs to keep the insects and birds off.

I still like emotionally easy names like “Pullet 643 2017” or “Red cow 136-2018”, but then I garden and don’t have any livestock or poultry.
We got a brief gap in the rain today, and I took advantage of it.
Trimmed the low-hangers on the tomato plants, and then gave them a dose of Dragoon Dust.
Planted the rhubarb divisions from Jung’s that landed in my mailbox yesterday. Planted some basil and marsh milkweed seed in starter cells and stuck those on the windowsill in the potting shed.
Ran two tanks of gas through the weed whacker, and sprayed the road slime off of my truck and Mrs. Augie’s car.
Now I need a nap.

In 2019 I had four to raise; three Walker Dogs and one Plott Hound, Oneida, who is still my Doofus and favorite guy. In 2016 I had a litter of SEVEN to raise - that was our first foray into breeding our own line from some really good dogs. We have two left from that litter; Emma Jolene is on her way to being a raccoon Nite Champion and Osage is our best bear dog.
My job is to keep them fed, safe, healthy, wormed (she’s been wormed) flea & tick stuff on them, and teach them the basic commands, Sit, Stay, Come, Leave It, With Me (on a leash) and then Beau takes over when they’re close to a year to train them to hunt. Shasta will be a bear dog, unless she shows a great aptitude for raccoon. We have ONE dog left from a really great litter, who is both. Lakota is 10, so it’s time to start rebuilding the pack.
These raccoon and bear hunting Hound Dog People! It’s a whole ‘nother world, I tells ya! :)
I’ve had 2 beagles in my life so other hounds remind me of them. :)

With all this rain the tomatos will probably need an antifungal. (Any danger of runoff into your pond?)
You could also use some neem oil with a bit of soap in warm water. (Might also smother the aphids!)
Hope it drys up enough so that Rhubarb divisions take without rotting! (I have lost 2 sets of divisions in 2 years because of that, but this is the first year I purchased Rhubarb from Jung.
I have a strawberry patch, but so far every berry was rotting on one side. (Even with straw underneath.)

Cucumbers and squash in pots inside. Waiting for a bit of dry to plant.
Did you plant the Garlic or was it a volunteer?
