Impact of daily high dose oral vitamin D therapy on the inflammatory markers in patients with COVID 19 disease

Abstract

COVID 19 is known to cause immune dysregulation and vitamin D is a known immunomodulator. This study aims to objectively investigate the impact of Pulse D therapy in reducing the inflammatory markers of COVID-19. Consented COVID-19 patients with hypovitaminosis D were evaluated for inflammatory markers (N/L ratio, CRP, LDH, IL6, Ferritin) along with vitamin D on 0th day and 9th/11th day as per their respective BMI category. Subjects were randomised into VD and NVD groups. VD group received Pulse D therapy (targeted daily supplementation of 60,000 IUs of vitamin D for 8 or 10 days depending upon their BMI) in addition to the standard treatment. NVD group received standard treatment alone. Differences in the variables between the two groups were analysed for statistical significance. Eighty seven out of one hundred and thirty subjects have completed the study (VD:44, NVD:43). Vitamin D level has increased from 16 ± 6 ng/ml to 89 ± 32 ng/ml after Pulse D therapy in VD group and highly significant (p < 0.01) reduction of all the measured inflammatory markers was noted. Reduction of markers in NVD group was insignificant (p > 0.05). The difference in the reduction of markers between the groups (NVD vs VD) was highly significant (p < 0.01). Therapeutic improvement in vitamin D to 80–100 ng/ml has significantly reduced the inflammatory markers associated with COVID-19 without any side effects. Hence, adjunctive Pulse D therapy can be added safely to the existing treatment protocols of COVID-19 for improved outcomes.

You need K2 to help D3 absorption, not K1. K1 is the supplement associated with blood clotting.

That is what I take: the K2+D3 - I have D3 alone but not taking it right now.

A Freeper recommended Vitamin D3 to me several years ago, I’ve been taking 3 1000 caps daily ever since, had a slight sniffle for two days just once, and nothing else - at my age I consider that a blessing and D3 is a wonder-drug. Of course, I keep my Ivermectin as a just-in-case.
PS. Hang Fauxi.

Thanks for the post, from the article:

“Improvement of serum vit.D level to 80–100 ng/ml has significantly reduced the inflammatory markers without any side effects”

I'll try and get back to you in a couple days with some YouTube videos or articles about D and K.

Taking D3 drive up blood levels of calcium.

K2 will take the calcium out of the blood again, and will put it into the bones and teeth where it belongs.

Just get blood levels monitored, and take it with K2-mk7 and magnesium.

If one is not getting one’s blood levels of D monitored annually, one should probably not be taking *any* D3 beyond the RDA. Getting sunshine daily, if possible, is better BUT if one has a crappy diet, all bets are off as to whether one’s skin will make the D in sufficient quantities.

Blanket discouraging people getting vitD based on personal stories is also very I’ll advised. We have Pharma trolls here on FR, and the last thing they want is for others to get their health and wellness via natural approaches.

Way too much medical jargon for me:In other words, if I'm reading this correctly, take lots of Vit D3. It's good for you.

FWIW, I've been taking 10,000 iu of D3 daily for years. Same amount of time since I've been sick. I've been tested for COVID three times, all negative. I'm not getting the vax because I don't trust it. Haven't worn a silly, ineffective mask either.

Send me a FReepmail if you'd like to know the other ingredients in my regimen.

Yes. People I know that are blood thinners have been advised to limit foods high in Vitamin K.

Well Fred, a year ago I began taking D3 supplements along with 50 mgs of Zinc daily. Right now I take 100 mgs of Vitamin D per day or 4000 ICU.

Same thing. Over this last year not so much as a sniffle.

mcg

Micrograms not milligrams

100 mcg is 4000 IU of D.

Thank you. The D2 by prescription, at 50,000 I.U. per week appeared to raise my D levels faster than the 5,000 D3 daily OTC supplement. I was wondering if anyone else had this experience.

the RDA is 800 per day for adults over 70- so 6000 is probab;y pretty good- you are probab;y not deficient

I would say for anyone who does NOT think they’ve had enoug vitamin D to try 50,000 a day for one week.

No it will not harm you BUT YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE MAGNESIUM!!!

I am not a doctor and I dont even play one on TV. But I was deficient and i did this and I noticed a huge benefit.

HINT: You know you are getting enough Vitamin D when you start having pleasant dreams.
