I would guess that the military already uses similar techniques to create a camouflage effect.
Some animals instinctually know about this too.
Chameleon lizards and Octopus use this for their own protection. Nature’s cloak of invisibility.

JPEG and MPEG encoding typically use lower resolution for encoding color than they use for luminance, thereby exploiting the Munker-White illusion.
Also, colorization of old black-and-white movies used to be done with quite large transparent color pixels, at least in darker parts of each frame. This may have been improved in recent years.

Just checked and yes, both my Balls are Beige, no stripes required.
When I was much younger they would turn blue on occasion, especially after a High School Date with a “nice” girl who wouldn’t go past second base.

That differentiation in patterns is where I was always off the chart on IQ tests
Unfortunately it’s not a broad based in my IQ strata....
Psychiatrist told me people with acute pattern determination skills also imprint long term memory well
