Much larger sunspot from 2001

NASA satellites have observed a large sunspot forming on the surface of the Sun. The sunspot is twice as wide as Earth and it is facing away from us, for now. However, as Earth moves around the host star, the sunspot could fire a solar flare right at us.
Astronomy site Space Weather said: “A new sunspot is emerging over the sun’s northeastern limb, and it’s a big one.
“The sunspot’s primary core is twice as wide as Earth, and it is accompanied by two Moon-sized companion spots – dimensions which make it an easy target for amateur solar telescopes.
“In recent days it has hurled multiple CMEs into space.
“Future eruptions could be aimed at Earth as the sunspot turns toward us in the days ahead.”

It was an M3.9... let me know if it gets to X-class.
Same goes for asteroids beyond lunar orbit, it is a big yawner.
There are some options...
Insure that the Solar Storm practices proper Social Distancing from Earth.
Require this Solar Storm before entering our magnetic field to wear double or even triple masks.
That could leave a mark.
Be on the search for X flares. Those are the bed ones.
So we are safe if we just stay on the dark side of the sun?

As stated in other replies, the sun rotates on its own axis in less than a month, and most sunspot groups only last weeks at best.
Total BS, this is no bigger than your average sunspot. Slow news day. This is like reporting that the thunderstorm coming over the horizon “could generate a tornado that could come and knock down your house”. Right, and a truck could come and hit a tree in front your house.
Yep. A constant drum beat of fear and threats and disaster. Sometimes its for a purpose but quite often our vile media does it because they are psychopaths and they simply just like harming people. It’s no more complex than that.
