Wang reportedly admitted having thrown six coins wrapped in red paper inside the plane's engine. A picture of the coins has now been shared online.
The incident reportedly took place at an airport in Weifang. A male passenger, identified with the last name Wang, was scheduled to fly from Weifang to Haiku on a Beibu Gulf Airlines flight GX8814 when he threw a handful of coins into the engine.
Fortunately, the staff was soon alerted about the coins in the engine after workers found coins on the ground during the pre-takeoff inspection.
The staff managed to recover all the coins but the flight had to be cancelled due to safety concerns. All 148 passengers were forced to do deboard and wait for another flight until the next morning.
Following the incident, WAng was detained by the police.

We had a Chinese lady at my old office insist on getting a cubicle that faced a certain direction because other directions were “bad luck.” Some of these Chinese beliefs are hillbilly backward.

When our kids were small and so many of their little toys had so many little parts, my sister and I used to joke that we did a “fod walk” before vacuuming. :)

Turning whole coins into bits of coins?
Usually that means foreign object debris.
Which of course can lead to damage...or at least malfunction.
I can remember this happening at least a couple of times before.
Perhaps they should keep everyone but crew away from the planes?
