Stern going to satellite was the beginning of the end.
His talent was pushing the envelope, but when there is no longer an envelope to push, it just gets boring.

Same here. Not sorry to hear his show is in decline, hell, it was a relic ten years ago.

“The Howard Stern Show,” long in decline, is dead.

I subscribe to Sirius for the classical channel and Sinatra, but I have never wanted to pay extra for Stern. I have never understood how he has a following.

I did not know he was still on the air.
When I left the Long Island area in ‘94, I had already stopped listening.

Bought a new car with 3 months of Siris for free, listened to Stern for 5 minutes when he was chatting with Jerry Seinfeld and it got very old very fast.

I used to like Stern when he was on regular radio. I've heard him on XM in recent years and it's brutal. They set up some dopey office drama (Intern: "Someone ate my sandwich!") and then Howard interrogates everyone about what they had for lunch to identify the culprit. Insightful questions like Who went to the bathroom recently, maybe they ate it raise the stakes as everyone accuses everyone else. Hilarity ensues.
Just brutal.

I was a huge Howard Stern fan when he was doing afternoon drive on WNBC AM 660. Some of the funniest segments was when Robin Quivers would do the news and Howard would make satirical comments. Then he want national and started to name drop all the time. I got bored and have not listened since then.

Always loathed that creep and have never listened to his disgusting show. I never understood what the attraction was unless people just like hearing other people being humiliated and abused and enjoy gross humor. Stern is like Steven Colbert. He makes a living off of hurting other people. I can’t stand either one of them.

The show was never the same after Jackie the Jokeman left 20 years ago. It has suffered ever since. I liked the show for many years, but stopped after Stern started kissing John Kerry’s ass during the election campaign of ‘04. Bye bye, “funnyman”.

Howard Stern’s show depended on commuters stuck in their cars listening to the radio. No commuters - no audience. No one would listen to that show if they had other options as evidenced by the fact he had no Saturday morning show.

The anti-Sterns would just record him talking and play a few minutes for his sponsors. Stern went through a lot of dropped sponsors.

From the article:
endless Reddit threads and Facebook groups are devoted to carbon dating the show’s death, parsing over its comedic breadcrumbs and wondering why Stern even bothers anymore.
Or you could just stop listening, as I did a couple of years before Artie tried to kill himself and left the show. Stern hasn't been funny or interesting in many years now, leaving just the smug, annoying a**hole part of his personality.
