Detectives perplexed by mysterious Oregon cattle mutilations
oregonlive.com ^ | Apr 18, 2021 | Garrett Andrews, The Bulletin

The udders appeared to have been removed with precision — straight, even cuts, as if made by a sharp object.

The reproductive systems had been cut out cleanly as well, and without disturbing other organs.

There was no indication of predator activity and perhaps strangest of all, scavenging animals appeared to have hardly touched these six cow carcasses found in a seven-day span this year on ranchland in rural Crook County.

But the mutilated cattle might be more ordinary than they seem, according to Brian Dunning, a Bend-based podcaster committed to deflating wild claims.

“This reads like a very typical case,” he said.

Crook County Sheriff John Gautney said his office has no leads but cautioned there’s “no reason to panic.”

“We’ve had cases like this over the years,” Gautney said. “They seem to come in groups and then go away."

The current string of cases began Feb. 27...

Charges in any of the cases could include trespassing and aggravated animal abuse. With the cattle valued at $1,250 to $1,400 each, criminal mischief might also be charged.

“The udders appeared to have been removed with precision — straight, even cuts, as if made by a sharp object.”

Had to explain to the reader, so as to prevent us from thinking it could’ve been a blunt object... right?

RE: Communist Chinese already onto this....

Yeah but like with everything else the Chinese were not able to be original thinkers. They had to steal the idea from streaming our old slasher and Texas chainsaw horror movies on TV.

Lol, that was my first thought to. Making sure the animals cannot breed even in the afterlife. Are they that radical and extremist? Yes they are...

This is sickening. I hope the cows were not mutilated while they were alive. Sounds to me like some weird Santeria animal sacrifice garbage. Maybe there is a local “coven” of weirdo animal sacrifice nutcases living nearby. Poor cow.

Yep, absolutely the same here. They may want to backup on that one, meat eaters are going to eat meat and will eat anything that is left and still available.

If our alien overlords enjoy steak and milk, then I guess they can’t be all bad.

Way better than being ruled over by vegans...

But why no evidence of human foot prints? Who could perform surgery with such precision at night—or at all? Why would there not be large amounts of blood on the ground? Think of the difficulties in subduing a cow, tranquilizing it, and then operating—all in secrecy? And what has become of the removed organs?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of chloroplast, five sheets of high-powered blotter granum, a saltshaker half-full of mesophyll, and a whole galaxy of carbons, fibres, vitamins, proteins... Also, a quart of chlorphyll, a quart of thylakoid, a case of oxygen, a pint of raw carbon dioxide, and two dozen stomates. The only thing that really worried me was the Oxygen. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a cow in the depths of a photosynthesis binge.

Vultures would likely be the first to find the carcasses. No way they cut through the skin on the back. With a fresh carcass, they’re limited to dragging organs out through an orifice. Makes me wonder about the reproductive system being gone. I saw a large cougar that a trapper had taken. The abdomen was deflated. I asked him how much it weighed, and he said “ Probably about 150 pounds, before the buzzards dragged its guts out it’s ass.” Didn’t see a mark on it.
