A video of dancers twerking in hotpants at an Australian military event has sent the country into a spin.
The scene was incongruous, bizarre and funny. So of course it went viral when it emerged on Wednesday.
But the music video-style choreography - featuring thumps, thrusts and butt shakes - also came under attack. Conservative lawmakers led the chorus of those calling it "inappropriate".
Tabloids splashed headlines slamming military standards. But others found offence elsewhere - projecting shame onto the dancers, and labelling their routine as too "sexualised".
That in turn sparked backlash over the policing of women's bodies and women dancing. The dance troupe in the footage, 101 Doll Squadron, complained about the media coverage....

It is the Navy, after all.
why are all these twerking females always fat?
No one’s accused them of racism or cultural appropriation?
Sailors and a show of female sexuality!
Why, who ever heard of such a thing?!
Sheias?
I was worried there for a moment that these were guys name Bruce.
You really just don’t wanna even know the answer to that. Suffice it to say it involves mass, and physics, and it’s enough to neutralize King Kong’s Viagra dosage.
Australia is a major gynocucked, feminist crapola society

Twerking is vulgar and demeaning, period. It originated in the black community with very large fat black women making their butt cheeks “clap” via shaking. Black guys went crazy for it (why???), so it blossomed and spread to the young white girl community. Because white girls have been taught that all things black culture are wonderful and virtuous.
So now we have girls everywhere making their butt cheeks clap together and somehow that is supposed to be “hot” and sexy.
Personally, I throw up in my mouth a little when I see it, and quickly change the video or whatnot.
Not all of those dancers were fat. Only a few were hefty.
A disgusting display nonetheless.
The word ‘Clap’ has just gotten a whole new meaning!

And the problem is?😎
21 bun salute.... LOL....

The legal system there is working very hard to change the society to that.
There is a terror of being accused of sexual harrassment, in the slightest amount, for silly things, by any employer.
Women have learned to use the system for leverage.
“Why Australia is in hysterics over a ‘navy twerking’ dance...”
I don’t think the Aussies give a rip-shit. Maybe some commie biddies at BBC.
“why are all these twerking females always fat?”
My guess is their training regimen calls for getting stuck into 4X and meat pies.
well done! lol
“”Good on those young ladies for getting out there, but I tell you, being half-clothed outside a warship is probably inappropriate,” she said.”
But it would be a morale boost to the ship’s crew.
and there’s the rub.
This was an official formal launch of a navy ship, with the attendant brass in mandatory attendance. Had they showed signs of enjoying the ‘dance’, they’d have been accused of being leering racist mysogynists. And if they ignore it and turn their heads, they’re accused of racial disrespect and mysogeny. And in both cases, the women sailors would find it disrespectful of women in the navy by objectualizing and mysogeny. There’s no win-win.
A bottle of champagne to smash on the bow and a brass band to play national songs has worked just fine for 400 years. Probably best to stick with what works.
