I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “Get Woke, Go Broke.” In the curious case of Coca-Cola, going woke may be the single biggest branding mistake in the history of marketing.
In late February a whistleblower came forth with screenshots, posted on YouTube, of slides from Coke’s internal ‘diversity training’ course urging its employees to quote, “Be less white.”
And by ‘less white’ they mean subservient. They don’t mean be more sensitive.
When this happened, I immediately said to myself, “Scratch ever buying another Coke product off my list.” Not a moment’s angst or energy went into it.
“Be less white?”
“Drink no Coke.”
Why? Because choosing not to buy a Coke on the rare occasion I buy a soda anymore is an easy one. Sugar (or aspartame) and water in and of itself isn’t anything to get excited about, it’s the association of Coca-Cola with a past positive experience that is.
And they just told me I’m a bad person because of the heritage of my birth.

List of Coca-Cola brands worldwide:
If you REALLY want this to hit, NEVER EVER order a Coca-Cola product at a fast food place or restaurant. That is where their profit is. Tell them WHY.
They will -SCREAM- to their supplier.
I would love to see Woke Coke take a nosedive and the share price follow so that the Woke Coke muckity mucks take a shot to their wallets.
Let their stock options turn into worthless pieces of paper.
And dont stop with Woke Coke, many of the national name brands are woke and they fund the LEFTIST media.
Dump national name brands. Leave them on the shelf whenever possible.
Ask the counter help or waitstaff if they serve Coca Cola, if they answer yes, order ice water.
Unfortunately, their stock is doing quite well.
And for those who are going to switch to Pepsi, they are just as woke and fund the LEFTIST media too.
If you have to drink soda go store/local brand.
I haven’t seen this talked about a lot, but what’s reasonably clear is that many of these huge, publicly-traded mega-brands are being intimidated by these enormous public-union funds who are threatening to wage war on the directors when it comes time for proxy voting.
California Public Employees and California Teacher Funds (CalPERs & CalSTRSs) are two of the biggest in the world and they’re both very politically active.
early days. keep me updated.
HEY CEOs! Don’t make assumptions about me and don’t tell me that I’m bad based on those assumptions. You are insane and I don’t take advice from insane people.
So true!!
I see PepsiCo joined in on the Zoom call of “Concerned” CEOs too.
I’ve made up my mind I’m only going to buy from small local companies. I don’t need Uber, I’ll walk, drive or take a bus. I don’t need Hollywood, haven’t really watched a movie in years. Local coffee shop instead of Starbucks. We have talented and innovative local business people we can go to instead of the big box stores. Let them limit their customers to the woke crowd.
Coca-Cola is hiding the truth that soda sales have been in decline for years and this virtue signaling nonsense is a consequence of those declining sales, not the cause. These companies are desperately grasping at anything to try to offset their decline.
Wow,
That’s a long list.
Hard to remember.
Thanks
Sugary drinks are not good for you. Sugar substitute drinks will KILL YOU! (and make/keep you fat)
boycott does not work, remember we laughed at people who tried to boycott the pillow guy?
the best hope is to convince them reformulate the recipe.
people should drink water anyway.
No Coke for me! The drink or the drug!
local grocery store last weekend had a buy2 / get 3 free on coke products. plenty of coke products on the shelves...
Boycotts don't just lower sales, they royally screw up supply chains where stores don't have the storeroom nor shelf space for the now-excess amounts of inventory and as such have to drop the price.
Conversely, if the supply chain software isn't monitored correctly, the increase in sales (if there is one due to the reduced price) incorrectly shows as increased demand and flows more product to the store.
