The judge in the George Floyd murder case refused a defense request to immediately sequester the jury Monday, the morning after the killing of a Black man during a traffic stop triggered unrest in a suburb just outside Minneapolis.
The request came from the attorney for former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin. Defense attorney Eric Nelson argued that the jurors could be influenced by the prospect of what might happen as a result of their verdict.
“Ultimately, your honor, the question becomes will the jury be competent to make a decision regardless of the potential outcome of their decision,” Nelson said.
Judge Peter Cahill said he will not sequester the jury until next Monday, when he anticipates closing arguments will begin. He also denied a defense request to question jurors about what they might have seen about unrest following Sunday’s police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center. …

GROUNDS FOR MISTRIAL
They can go home and watch the riots and looting in Brooklyn Center on TV.
Worse, they will be threatened, cajoled, and pressured by agitated relatives and neighbors.
is this so they will get scared to death of what will happen to them?

This AFTER potential jurors said that they feared for their lives if they were to return a not-guilty verdict.
True. How can they watch those scenes and not feel threatened. If they say they didn’t see anything about it, they’re lying.
Off topic,
Hearing/seeing “your honor” aggravates me to no end. They’re all black-robed tyrants.
Ok, back on topic.
How clever of the defense... to imply the danger to the jury as a measure of their “conflict of decision” on the FACTS that George Floyd was worthless drug addict high enough on fentanyl and other opiods to have died under the additional stress of being arressted... CAUSED BY HIS addiction (which he was not at all interested in kicking), and NOT by a policeman doing his job for the public safety.
Typical Commie crap manipulation for the MEDIA farce that is the BLM “narrative” and the demonrat national “lifeline”... oh yes.... let’s ignore the LAW and allow the criminals to own the politicians and the rest of the citizenry.
These idiots think a conviction will prevent rioting or reduce the destruction.
There will be riots no matter what the jurors decide.
All the judge has done is void any conviction. The verdict will be dumped and the court will have to start all over again.
This trial should have STARTED with a change a venue. And the jurors should have sequestered from day one.
So let’s see how long they can “Gin up” the street a@@clowns to destroy more businesses AGAIN on the basis of NO FACT whatsover or the actions/rumours of the officer’s actions.
Female officer— let’s hope she’s black (but not for her sake, goodness knows, though it would be somewhat of a help to slow down the commie LEFT white guilt libs).
This reminds me of the second Rodney King trial, the Federal case against the LAPD officers who had been acquitted in superior court. While the jury was deliberating they could hear the mob outside the courthouse shouting “no justice no peace.” The defendants had no chance. They were offered up as human sacrifices by George H. W. Bush.

Judge rules that Morries Hall, passenger in #Floyd’s car, won’t testify (Hall said he would plead the 5th) his prior statements to police won’t be admissible in court. Def wanted to have him on the stand, likely to testify to what drugs Floyd took in the car
I’m reminded of Thomas Jefferson’s 1819 letter to Spencer Roane, where in describing the judiciary he remarked “the leaven of the old system has assimilated to itself the new”, including the use of honorifics.
more news for the jurors

Looked like white hands in the video
One jurist lives in Brooklyn Center.
If the jurors don’t convict, you can bet they’ll be hunted down by BLM. As long as BLM and their allies lurk about, the jurors will be thinking of their safety first.
If that’s not jury intimidation, nothing is.
