I’ll be going maskless to the early service tomorrow. This is a former church of mine that I attended several years ago until I saw the writing on the walls on how “seeker sensitive” they’ve been.
They require masks until you are seated. How far should I push this?
Believe me, I DO NOT like wearing a mask, but in this state they are required on any public property regardless of you are alone in the woods, and so I try to wear one in public, but not when outside playing football, etc. (the WHO even said not to wear a mask when exercising). However, if a church required it - which I do not think they should if good spacing and ventilation are maintained - then I would wear one in keeping with Christ who paid taxes that He should not have to pay, less they be offended since this was not a moral compromise.
However, while reasonable in some cases, yet as a norm masks are contrary to the principal of expressing oneself.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. (Psalms 42:5,11)
To make a few people at least THINK for a change. That is in short supply these days.
What are you trying accomplish?
Go to church without a face burqa. I thought I made that clear.
It sounds like you are upset with the direction of the church and also the mask issue.
Yes and yes. Your point?
Would you recommend another Sunday, assuming that's what my motive is?
You do know that Jesus violently drove merchandisers out of the Temple on the cusp of the high holy day of Judaism, don't you?
No. Insisting that worshippers wear a mask is.
Or is it possible that you are letting your other, more significant disagreements with your former church influence your action here? You may think it’s dumb to wear a mask, but is that really the issue? And will your confrontation actually do anything to encourage the people to follow a more biblical path or will it just serve to annoy people on Easter?
It's not just "dumb" to wear a mask. Until you get past that point, you just won't get it.
If the state recommends, for the good of the people, that for ease of transactions everyone will be transacting “cashless” and that a scanable chip be implanted with the same information as your debit card so that you are always prepared for purchases, would you comply? I mean, what could be more inocuous than facilitating people buying bread?
I agree. What's your definition of "social justice?"
I do t mike masks either but wearing one to worship is hardly equal to worshipping satan.
Pray about how far you should push this before going.
I’d do what the Holy Spirit told me to do before I’d follow the advice of anyone on this site.
The Bible tells us to be as smart as serpents and as meek as doves.
Christians need to be shown that there are people who put their faith in God and not a mask. I think that’s your purpose.
God bless you for your courage.
We’re biblically told to confront those in a congregation of believers who sin. THere is nothing untoward about raising the question of masks in a purportedly Christian church. I’m not going to push this any further than asking to go in without a face covering, and if they say “no,” I’ll turn around and leave.
It’s my discerning belief that many churches, ENTIRE CONGREGATIONS, are under strong delusion and under a malaise that won’t be removed until someone does something to removing it. Apparently a lot of people here love the malaise they are under and don’t want it disturbed.
I’m glad I wasn’t living in the 1930’s Germany with a bunch of the ones on here. They sound like a bunch of brainwashed libs
Not if you’re going just to make a point
Our church is essentially maskless now, but a few still wear them
I hate to say it, but the lady FReepers are the worst capitulators to this slavery. “Safety” above all else.
It’s why men are the only ones who should be in positions of authority. Flame away.
Again, making points is what going to church is about. Where do you get the idea that it isn’t?
How we live is making a point.
I can remember when this site was all for freedom. Since this flu hit, they have all turned into blind sheep. They actually believe what the government tells them after yrs of lying.
I know, it’s tragic.
Find a church that fears God more than Fauci, and it people Carry Bibles
Those are slim pickins in this city. and it’s a large city.
I think that at Easter, it’s best to let Jesus ‘make people think’.
In other words, get over yourself and leave people alone who want to worship.
You seem to think that it’s your job to ‘guide’ them - at Easter!
It ain’t your job.
The Elders are requiring our staff, leadership and volunteers to wear masks while serving. Masks are highly recommended, but not required for worshippers. I fyou would like to wear a mask but do not have one, we will have some available at the door.
This is a recent reversal. I'll be very pleased if true.
