Earle Gustavas Stevens, 69, was arrested two weeks ago for driving his Mercury Grand Marquis while under the influence.
The Vero Beach resident was nabbed after a driver called 911 to report that Stevens’s car repeatedly tapped her bumper while they were in a McDonald’s drive-thru lane.
When a sheriff’s deputy contacted Stevens, he reeked of alcohol, was slurring his words, and had ”red and glossy” eyes.
A bottle of Jim Beam sat in Steven's passenger seat.
Asked if he was drinking in the auto, Stevens said "No" but explained that he was enjoying the bourbon" at stop signs.”
The deputy elaborated: “He further explained that he was not drinking while the car was moving and only when he stopped for stop signs and traffic signals.”
Stevens failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested when a breath test revealed his blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit.
Well said.
Florida Man strikes again!
That is presicely what my defense was to be. Same goes for texting.
He’s got a point there.
As a matter of fact, this story was posted in this very forum before you joined FR. How amazing is that!
I had a great Aunt who refused to wear a seat belt. She claimed that if she was going to have an accident she’d just jump out of the car.
As long as he does nothing to affect me and mine, Florida Man is always funny to read about.
”Red light!”
”Drink!”
From the looks of that old boy I’d say he’s probably a better driver when he’s drinking than when he’s sober. That’s the face of a man whose blood alcohol level never get’s below the legal limit.
DUH-da-daa FLORIDA MAN !
“60s Batman theme “ ... FLORIDA MAN “60s Batman theme”
BFD I got to Brwd from Dade years before 95 went past Davie Blvd and b4 NE scum trashed Brwd
By the way you owe back dues, how amazing is that ?
2018?
Did this story fall through a rip in the fabric of time?
Of course! :-) I don’t drink but it makes the best Bourbon Balls.
Some bourbon tasters on YouTube figured out that bourbon can be made to taste better by steeping Lady Gray tea in it.
Lady Gray is like Earl Gray, but it has a fruitier flavor.
Grey or Gray?
I mean, he’s not wrong......
Lady Gray is like Earl Gray, but it has a fruitier flavor.
................................................
I’m a veteran drinker of Earl Grey but never heard of Lady Grey. Does she have any oil of bergamot in her?
Florida Man is ageless.
Reminds me of the time my brother's ex-wife decided to make rum balls. She followed the recipe, but where it said to measure the rum by the tablespoon, she measured it by the cup.
Boy, those rum balls were good!
